Back to the P-10C at 100 yards, 1 min video of 10 shots
« on: May 21, 2024, 06:46:56 PM »
I've had a blast with the P-10F and then the last few weeks with the P-10S, so today I went back to my first gen P-10C 4" pistol with the Burris FF3 3moa sight and AA 115 gr JHP ammo.  I spent a few rounds getting the 100 yard zero dialed in and getting used to the C trigger compared to the F and S pistols.  There was a little wind, but overcast conditions were perfect for this sight at this distance.  This pistol has a Primary Arms match barrel and a CGW striker with 4# Glock striker spring and retainers.

This video shows shots 51-60 for the day not including 13 sighters on a blank target.  The first 10 on target 3 were ok except for one called low sight, out of frame low in the video.  I would normally have stopped after two 20 round targets plus sighters, but I was not happy with the results at that point, so I put up target 3 and finally got two good groups for 10 shots.  The first group was really good, the second was about average for a "good day" result.  Can't wait to get back to the range and shoot the compact pistol again.

This is fun.  This is not easy.

That's pretty impressive...maybe I'm trying to shoot too close to my targets, and my groups would tighten up given another 95 yds...

Does Glock make a 4# striker spring, or is that an aftermarket spring?

I once tried Wolff 4# & 4.5# springs in my Gen3 Glock 34 and had issues with light strikes with both using MaxxTech ammo. Do the P10's tolerate lighter springs better than Glocks?

I think the springs that I use are from Wolff Gun Springs for a Glock.  You need to use Glock keepers with a Glock specific spring in the CZ pistols.  I use Atlanta Arms ammo which has soft primers.  I can't tell you anything about a Glock, I'm afraid.

I’ve got  the Apex P10 trigger kit in the mail right now. I also included a set of Glock spring cups and a standard Glock striker spring in my order, so I have the option of trying my Wolff 4.0#, 4.5#, 5.0#, and the Glock springs in the CZ if the Apex kit doesn’t reduce the trigger pull enough.

That's a good plan.

I have the Apex disconnector in my F pistol, but have been holding out on the S and C waiting for late model trigger bars for all three.  I have an older trigger bar in the F but it seems to work fine with the other Apex parts.  I'll be interested in hearing how all the new stuff works out for you.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

I expect that my P10F OR will have the 19 or unmarked bar, I ordered the gun about a month ago, and it’s marked as a Connecticut gun.

Here is a video of Wednesday's range visit, didn't clean or touch the gun after the Tuesday session.  Same ammo, range lane.  Overcast again but the wind was up.  I didn't think it would make any difference but I was wrong.  When I stopped on Tuesday, the groups were still a little left but not enough to go "one click right" as that would have just moved the groups to the right of center.  So, I expected to see the groups maybe an inch or two further to the left, but I was having some blurry sight pictures and that may have exaggerated the movement to the left.  Also, the dot didn't appear round, rather it was elongated vertically, so I chose to try to hold with the bottom of the dot at the bottom edge of the bullseye rather than try to center the dot in the center of the bullseye.

The first 20 rounds were a little frustrating as I was surprised that everything seemed different from Tuesday, yet I hadn't changed anything.  Here is the video of the second 20 rounds, with a happy ending.

It looks like mentally I got frustrated, then settled down and dealt with what I could see, and the groups tightened up.  I think the vision problem is most likely due to allergies.  I forgot to take an antihistamine before going to the range, and my vision wasn't perfect even when not viewing through the red dot lens.  In other words, shooter problem.  ... As always.

That's it for me this week.  I'm going to shoot steel guns next week unless I get my three trigger bars from CZ-USA.

This is fun.  This is not easy.  Sometimes, it's frustrating even.
