Mag Release Button Screw
« on: June 07, 2024, 05:22:29 PM »
Hello,

I am going to change the mag release button on my S2 Compact from the standard light blue aluminum to regular black aluminum.

Before attempting this, I have read/researched this extensively here and all over the web, and I am aware that that little screw could be a quite challenging thing. Apparently a great deal of folks ended up stripping it and things just escalated from that.
So… I have a heat gun… Got myself the highest quality T10 Torx bit I could find (and tested it: zero play, sits nice and tight in there)… And I am ready to go.

Before I attempt to do this, does any of the fine folks in here have any tip, suggestions, recommendations that could help me avoid disaster?

Thank you in advance for any help, fellas.

Yep,
Take a crappy torx bit of the same size.  Heat it up til it's hot and place into the screw.  Let the heat get soaked up a time or two and then come back with the good torx bit and loosen the screw.
