It was too hot
« on: June 21, 2024, 04:31:54 PM »
We melted quickly, but I did get the BREN 2 red dot sighted in. Pic from last night.

Again, it worked perfectly, and I was happy with the results. These two groups are from me zeroing the AimPoint PRO.

Then I got stupid - I always want to see how a rifle will do at 100 yards standing. If I can't hit the steel at 100 yards with a rifle, it's not good to me. Well, I know I will hit the steel, but I also know I can do MUCH better than that, say, not burning up in 111 degree heat...but it will do, considering I am a fat old man, not a Delta Force Operator.

Da Boy tried the CZ 75B again, caught some interesting photos of muzzle flip and fast recovery.

However, at 100 yards he only hit the steel once, which is HIGHLY unusual...except for the massive heat. He suggested we bring it back to 25 so he can get used to the pistol at close range. Only that kid would call 25 yards close range...

Hope that you have better days at the Range!  :)

Too hot and muggy here in the Mid-West to even bother to go outside! :(

Is that Rio Salado Armoredman?

And yes I agree it is too hot out there for shooting right now.

If you live in the east valley checkout Guns2 Ammo. They recently moved across the street: NE corner of Main and Recker. They have a very nice 6 lane range with AC set at 75. Not fond of indoor ranges but less fond of 110 outdoor ranges. Still nice to get out every once in awhile for just $20.

Yeah, that actually does make a difference. As for East valley, no, I am about 50 miles south of the Valley. However, there is I-10 and AZ 87.  8)

It's hot here (96 or 97 yesterday afternoon) but the humidity seems to have gotten lost on it's way here (so far.)

Yes, walk outside and the sun it hot.  But it doesn't slap you in the face when you open the front door before you can even step across the threshold onto the porch.  The humidity around here this time of the year is usually so bad you feel like you can't get your breath in a normal way.

Wouldn't bother me if the humidity stayed away all summer, but I know it won't.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I feel his pain and concur with his strategy!!   :) :)

I've shot in dry heat and wet heat and dry heat at altitude.  I've shot in an indoor range.  None are good, but I deal with dry heat better than the rest.  And I can handle the heat better than any of my hot rod video cameras that don't have a fan.  I have a second fanned video camera body coming today.  One of my current ones can't handle more than 30 minutes continuous shooting until it shuts down in the summers.  Never had that problem with simple, low resolution camcorders, LOL.  I'm too much of a gear head, I'm afraid, and guilty of suffering from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).

Just this morning, I mentioned to my wife how it seemed like the humidity was holding back this year. We also haven't had the typical evening showers yet, so I'm sure that is making a difference. And yes, the dry heat does make a difference. I could handle 105 - 110 in Vegas much better than 85 degrees and 90% humidity here in 'bama. If I can't be off the range by 10:00, then I'm not going.
No matter where you're going, there you are.

Monsoons hit two nights ago - now it's hot and muggy. I've said Southern Arizona only has three seasons - hot dry, hot wet, and mildly cool.
