Hi All: I went out on a limb and bought a brand new P-01 Decocker. I have no good reason for this as I already have a Shadow 2, a Shadow 2 Compact and a TS Orange. All those pistols shoot great for me, but didn't quite fill the bill for an EDC pistol. I read quite a bit on the P-01 Decocker and decided to take a chance on one to see how I liked it. Most of what I read was pretty favorable to the P-01 so what the heck, I picked one up.
The P-01 surprised me. In double action trigger is okay albeit a bit rough and heavy. 10.5 pounds heavy on my trigger pull gauge. Single action pull is at about 7.0 to 7.5 pounds and creepy. I popped in a lighter hammer spring and got things down to a more manageable 8.5 pounds DA pull and about 5.5 pounds SA pull. With that I cleaned the pistol and went to the range where the real surprise took place. Even with the not so great trigger pull weight on this pistol I managed a 1.5" group at 7 yards off a bench into one ragged hole. Clearly this pistol can shoot!
I shot every conceivable 9mm load I had from light to heavy and this pistol functioned flawlessly. I did have one FTF on one of my reloads, but one out of 75+ rounds downrange is pretty darn good. I must admit to the fact after shooting this pistol for a while, I miss not have an optic on it. This leads me to my first question: Who does really good work on milling a CZ slide for a direct mount optic? I am leaning towards a Holoson EPS Carry for this pistol as I already have one on a Glock G-48 and like it a bunch.
Lastly, who does really good work on CZ P-01 triggers? I have no desire to get into the inner workings of a decocker model even though I have worked on my Shadows. I am not too worried about the trigger pull weight, but I would like a smooth double action pull and absolutely no creep on single action if this is possible.
So, any thoughts in these areas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
