CZ Compact
« on: July 24, 2024, 03:58:02 PM »
I really want a CZ Compact for my EDC.  The only thing stopping me is the size of the safety lever.  It's just too easy to miss.  I'm familiar with firearms and I understand training and practice.  Does anyone know of any aftermarket extended safety for that gun?  I've seen some for the full size but not the compact.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any thought to going with a decocker? I carry my PCR decocked and love it plus its a little lighter than the compact but still all metal. Can also carry the compact decocked just need to follow careful procedure decocking it.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with @Born2vette.   I don't carry my Compact, but if I did, it would be decocked, and I wouldn't bother with the safety.

Years ago I put a set of thumb safeties for a CZ85 (full size CZ model) on a CZ75 Compact.  It required more work/mods than just installing  single left side safety and you probably wouldn't want to do that - but my point is the safeties from a full sized CZ85 fit/worked on a CZ75 Compact.

I wonder why a safety meant for a CZ75B wouldn't work on a CZ75 Compact?  Not just a CZ75B factory safety, but a safety meant for installation/use on a CZ75B.

I'd have thought someone here would have done it but maybe they just haven't gotten in here to post yet.

Replacing a safety may require some fitting to insure the new safety blocks the sear movement as intended.

I've read that some CZ75 types have a thicker/thinner frame overall width than other models.  I read it here, shrugged and wondered why but don't remember the specifics.  So some CZ75 types may use different safeties than other CZ75 types.

I think the older CZ USA webstore used to have more description in their webstore to help you figure out what guns the parts might interchange on.  Like a lot of places these days, not as helpful to buyers as it used to be.  I looked yesterday hoping to get some part numbers/descriptions that might help.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
