Miami Vice CZ clone Bren 10 scene
« on: September 21, 2024, 07:33:39 PM »
I guess you guys have seen this but if not it is neat to see. In Miami Vice , Crockett was supposed to use a "Bren 10" but I heard that it would not function through a whole magazine , so there were a lot of modifications done to the gun to make it work in the show. Here is a good view of it. I was about 12 years old when this was "aired" . Good stuff to watch , cars , guns , and music. Of course the noise from the gun is fake but still neat to see.

The downfall of the Bren Ten was that the mfg. couldn’t procure enough functional 10mm magazines. For the Miami Vice series, I believe the gunsmiths on set rechambered the Bren Ten in .45 ACP to get it to function with blanks.

Not so long afterwards, Tanfoglio perfected the CZ75 design chambered in 10mm.

They’ve done better than CZ has done with 10mm, which is nada.

Most of the people I know that own 10mm for a long time don’t shoot them much.  The novelty wears off along with price and scarcity of ammo.  Plus one guy that always shoots a minimum of 100 rounds each time he goes to the range said he tired of his arms feeling beat up afterwards.

10mm has its uses. It’s not my EDC, but would be good to have hiking in bear, cougar or feral hog country. I’d much rather carry a 12 shot compact semi-auto in 10mm than a .44 Magnum revolver.

I wouldn't say it's that bad, but then I love my 10mm. For recoil full house loads can be a bit snappy but most commercial loads aren't much more snappy than .40 out of the same gun. Those relatively standard commercial loads can be relatively cheap as well. It will never be 9mm cheap but neither will any other centerfire pistol ammo.

Carried mine for two weeks in Idaho and Montana last year loaded with Underwood 200gr hardcast. It was quite comforting.

👍🏻  Thanks for the response.  I’m tempted and your response sways me.  The local range rents a 10 and I’m going to try it out.

I hope you like it more 10mm shooters equals more ammo and gun options.

So true!  8)  Tanfoglio has always been more forward thinking when it has come to meeting the desires of shooters!  :)
