Due to software changes these instructions have been updated as of Oct 2024. • You will need an image hosting site to post
images or
image links on the CZ Forum (CZF).
•
The best image manipulation and posting results are always obtained by using a home computer. If you experience difficulty editing, sizing or posting images,
then stop using your phone.
• There are numerous image hosting sites, but one site that works well for CZF users is
PostImage. (
https://postimages.org/ ) A PostImage account is
free, it works equally well with computers or phones, it allows hundreds of images, your images do not have an expiration date or time limit, and you can keep images sorted by group.
•
Google Photos is decidedly not a good image hosting site. Only about 20% of your CZF viewers will be able to see your image(s). And there's no rhyme or reason as to who can or can't view the image. Things always go downhill from there. Please don't use
Google Photos on CZF.
Uploading ImagesThere are 2 preparation steps. We suggest you work with 2 windows open in your browser; one open to CZF and the second open to
PostImages. Next, download the chosen image(s) to your computer's "Downloads" folder.
Once logged into
PostImages you are ready to upload your image directly from the main screen. Or, you can choose from existing images by clicking on the "My Images" menu selection in the upper RH corner of the screen.
1. Leave as "Default"
2. Set the image size to 640x480. (Images wider than 650 are not allowed on CZF.)
3. Set the time limit to "No Expiration".
Hosted ImagesA screen then appears with links to your hosted image. Click on the blue icon to the far right side of the second line labeled "Direct Link". Clicking on the blue icon "Copies" the link to your computer's memory so that it can be "Pasted" into the text of your forum post. Your
PostImages screen looks like this...
Posting ImagesOnce remotely "hosted", your images can then be posted as either photos or hyperlinks within the text of your new or old forum post.
• You can either write new text, or open an existing message and post your image. Remember, an image without text to explain what the viewer is seeing is somewhat useless, as is descriptive text without an image. Descriptive text
and image work together to fully convey your meaning.
• The image should be on a line by itself. Hit the "Enter" key twice to place the image on a new line. Then select the "Mona Lisa " icon from the pallet of tools at the top of your CZF screen. This will insert the HTML commands you'll need. (If you choose not select the Mona Lisa icon, then your image will be posted as a hyperlink.)
• When the
Image Commands are inserted, your cursor will appear (blinking) between them.
• Without moving the cursor, "Paste" (Control-V) your link from
PostImages right there.
• You can now "Save" or "Preview" you post.
All the images you see here are being hosted on PostImages using these instructions.
