Side of fiber optic distracting?
« on: October 20, 2024, 08:11:46 AM »
Hi all,

I had a Shadow 2 for a while, learned to shoot handguns with it, but eventually sold it while I was in a striker fired phase. I was planning to get a 2011 or a Platypus to replace the S2, and I have my 97 so I thought my CZ itch wouldn’t be too bad. But I was wrong. Apparently I must have an CZ 9 in the stable and am looking at getting a 75B SA from CZC.

It has had some work done on it, including a fiber front sight, that looks similar to a S2 front. When I has my S2 I always had trouble with my left eye trying to grab the front sight, and I had to force my right eye back to dominance. I am not a competition shooter, but it did slow me down, annoyingly.

I don’t have this problem with other bright front sights, so I am wondering if my eye is grabbing the visible side of the fiber optic. I may try cutting some very small pieces of electrical tape with an exacto knife and covering the side to mock up something like a TruGlo TFX and see it that help me.

Anyone had a similar issue with their S2 or other exposed fiber front sight?
