Now that I have two pistols, I need a better range bag
« on: November 07, 2024, 09:13:39 AM »
Usually go to the range with a CZ Shadow 2 and a CZ Shadow 2 Compact.  Plus hearing, glasses, ammo, and a very few tools (mag loader, sight adjustment screwdriver) plus a couple rags.

I have the Savoir double pistol range bag, but it is so padded, that you cannot put anything in there because the padding just takes up 99% of the available space.  I can shoehorn two guns in there, but without holsters, 6 magazines, and my 500 rounds of ammo - but it is tight and the case is an unusual shape, so it rolls over everywhere.

For my 22's I use and Elite Tactical dual pistol case, and a larger ammo can and thet holds everything I need.

How do I handle the 9mm?

I’ve used this Smith & Wesson bag.  It does everything you look for but 500 rounds is a lot of weight.  When I have that much ammo, I usually carry two bags or a separate container with handle for the ammo.

I'm on my second season with this one;

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F3U6YMY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1

Mostly for Winter time when using the indoor ranges. Yes, it gets heavy with four pistols , ammo , tool kit and supplies.  I much prefer only having one hand or shoulder tied up in transit. Usually 9mm on one side , .40 on the other. Rimfires , ammo and ever thing else in the middle. Saftey glasses and muffs  on one end and bottled water on the other. Targets in a cardboard tube between the handles.

I bought this one in 2020 and love it. You can wear it like a backpack and it has wheels on the bottom with a handle that extends out like a carry-on.

See, the is the problem:  I don't want to carry 4 or 6  - I would like a bag for two guns, some tools, ear muffs and glasses, and 6 boxes of ammo

These are great, but too big..  No goldilocks suggestions?

Here are 2 other cases I purchased on sale;

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1025987187?pid=684198

Both hold a lot of ammo and mags, not room for Hearing protection.
So I use a Brownells Ear Muff Belt Clip like... Click Here

I carry two pistols in the center section and use the 4 interior side pockets for "other stuff".
Carry ammo in a separate canvas military bag.
Just sayin'

 I get that. When I started looking for my first safe, I asked for suggestions. The number one suggestion I got was to buy a safe bigger than what I think I need and then buy it slightly bigger than that. I followed that advice and that safe was packed full within five years of owning it. I struggled to find a spot for a new gun the other day.

It’s just a suggestion, but you may consider buying a bag slightly bigger than you think you need. The link I posted for the bag I suggested has very good storage for ammo, ear protection, eye protection, extra magazines, a heavy duty stapler to attach range targets, and space for other small odds and ends. Again, just a suggestion. Hope you find what you’re looking for.

For a range visit with what you list, my freebie NRA range bag is just right!
