I used to shoot bullseye matches with the Kadet on a 75B frame, and centerfire with P-09, P-07, and 97B"E". Bullseye matches are shot single hand standing out to 50 yards. I did fairly well in our local matches, but never went to the state meets or to Camp Perry. Then we moved and I retired from bullseye but I have continued shooting the the old pistols and a few new ones at 100 and 200 yards.
Lately, I got a few comments (maybe from the AR15.com crowd, not here) on some of my 100 yard videos, suggesting my grip was weak and wrong and that my trigger control wasn't so hot. I agree on the grip, as it has always been a problem due to my left wrist catching a large chunk of metal in a lab accident 50 years ago. I had complete hand reconstruction over several operations and am very blessed to have retained most of the use of my left hand, but there is some muscle damage and nerve damage which prevent me from adopting a "normal" thumbs forward, non overlapping, tight, weak hand grip. My weak hand is, well... weak, LOL.
So I came up with the idea for a new-to-me twist on 100 and 200 yard target shooting. Today I tried single hand grip from a rest. I started off a little rough, made a correction, got in a few rounds of practice, and finished off with a good 10 round series on the third target. I caught it all on video, and here it is, with a lot of dead time edited out.
https://youtu.be/cdVm9uGyLjs I need a lot more practice single hand, but today's result is promising. Yes, I threw a few shots, and those "bad" shots are what I hope to minimize over the next few weeks. And I'll try 200 yards single hand, eventually.
Thanks for taking a look. Let me know what you think.
This is fun. This is not easy.
