CZ 712 O-ring

Want to get a spare before it breaks.  I looked around at metric and std o-rings at the hardware store, but the Huglu one is definitely special because it is very thin.  
           
            I could not fit the gas piston back in the barrel ring with a store bought o-ring.
           
            what happens if the o-ring breaks (single shot only?).
           
            is there a mesurement or number for the right o-ring?
           
            does frequent cleaning and barrel removal accelerate o-ring stress? (it must I figure)
           
            thank 4 any info on this matter.

If the o-ring breaks then only a already chambered round will fire. After that you would have to do everything manually.
           
            Call CZ and ask how much o-rings are. Before Armsco closed down, they were selling them for $1 each. If they charge too much (like Remington does for their shotguns), bring one to a good hardware store and ask them if they can tell you the size. These others probably won't last as long, but if the factory is $5+ (again like Remington), a $0.25 one can not last as long but still save money. I would just put in a factory one if you were in a hunting situation. That is never the time to have an o-ring fail! It happened to me and I lost the greates second shot in history: the turkey actually jumped up and flew towards me.. not away, but towards! When it landed it was all of 10 feet from me and I could not get a second shot off!

I have a Charles Daly as well as a Remington 1100. I put 2 o-rings in and have had good luck doing so. I have had a few times when I would find one of them broken but the other was still intact. I don't know if the 712 will allow you to do this or not. One of you would have to try it and see.

As of 2/04/06 CZ USA sells 712 & 720 O-rings for $1.00 a piece.
           
            If you don't want to pay that much, measure your O-ring (probably metric) with a pair of calipers then go to McMaster & Carr to find a replacement.
           
            For conversion reference, .0393" = 1MM
