P07/P09 magazine info
« on: March 26, 2025, 02:06:12 PM »
Years ago I bought a bunch of those +2 bases CZ USA was selling.  I installed them on the P07 and P09 magazines and they've worked great over the years.

A couple years ago I got to working with M&P pistols again and found out those +2 bases would work great on the 17 round (full sized) M&P magazines just fine.  They also worked on the .40 S&W full sized mags.  They might work on the compact and sub compact mags but I never tried them.

A week or so ago I ordered three of the EMP +6 bases/keepers with extended springs from Midway.  Those are +6 for 9MM and +5 for .40 S&W. and say on the label they fit M&P pistols.

I only had two extra 9MM magazines for the M&P so I used two of them and one left over.  Then it hit me, if the CZ+2 bases work on the M&P magazines why won't the M&P + 5/6 bases fit on the P07/P09 magazines.  Well, grabbed an empty P09 9MM magazines and the EMP bases fit just fine.  That jumps the 19 shot P09 mags up to 25 rounds.

Can't say they'll work forever but it might be something to try out if anyone wants to do it.  I took a picture if anyone wants to see it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

P07/P09 mags work with the  p10c/p10f, so that means it can be used for them as well.

That depends on when they were made. The very early P-07/09 mags will not work in the P10 line as they were never cut for them. There were also mags made for the early P10 with the ambi mag release that are cross compatible with the P-07/09. Then they switched to a single side swapable mag release on the P10 line that are cross compatible with both versions of the P10 and the P-07/09. This was a confusing and aggravating period for many till CZ rectified the mag fit with the latest versions.
Of course the mag bases mentioned should fit all versions of those mags.

I knew about the P10 and P07/P09 magazines.  I didn't really mention the P10 as I've read/seen pictures of the slight difference in the way the bases look when swapped between pistols.  I don't know if that's a difference in the magazine shell/body or just the base itself.

Anyway, the picture I took of the extended base on the P09 magazine.  For 100% clarity, this is a P09 9MM magazine in a P09 .40 pistol.  The mags. fit the same in the two caliber pistols, just wanted to state things up front.  I have not shot the P09 with the base/spring kit.  You do have to remove your magazine follower from the original spring and put it on the new extended spring.

If these work out okay I'll be ordering some more.  Oh, the reason I ordered from Midway was one of the members on the M&P Forum said he ordered a couple from the company that makes them and when he had one of the springs fail (twisted up badly when loaded to 23 rounds of 9MM) the maker company refused to do anything but offer to sell him a new spring stating it was his fault (poor installation.)  I believe if I have an issue Midway would be more likely to supply a new spring, or a new kit.  Or I'd just trash the factory kit spring and order an extended spring from somewhere else.  I need to check to see if Wolff Springs sells extended magazine springs.  I know I've seen them for sale somewhere, just didn't need any at that time.

My p10c and p10f magazine fit in my p09c nocturne but the nocturne mags don't fit in the p10's because of the baseplate

My P10F mags also work with my a01ld. I assume, those mags will work with the full size P09. I might need to consider buying one. That'll be 5 guns that the magazines can be used between them.

Wasn't someone here complaining about Colt and the lack of magazines being used between models?

Yeah seems I saw someone complaining about that. CZ mags are probably more compatible across their model lines than any other brand out there. All my CZ compact mags fit all my compact guns and eventually when I add the Shadow 2 models to my stable those mags will all fit those guns as well.
