I have bought the first. It is an older model Made in Czechoslovakia. I like it but its well broken in. I am buying another as soon as I can find one, and I have. It supposed to be like new. There is no doubt. This gun is well made, and very solid all the way to the sights.

Sean,
             Happy? YES!
I have owned two of them and still own an old and well worn 60's ZVP pistol.
My first impressions of this pistol were, 1)  WOW, it is so smooth to operate! 2) How can they say this is a 7m pistol when it shoots @10m so well?
The first question is obviouslly answered, the quality of workmanship and a stout, reliable design accounts for this!
Second one tho is a bit more complicated...
It seems that for years in Europe airgun shootng has been very much accepeted as an indoor sport (the cold climates there). Space for 10m ranges is limited, and the popularity of 6m and 7M ranges is easy to accomodiate for. Pub's, recreation facilitys, and schools all could devote such an area easilly to  airgun shooting. Thus the 7m range is a fairly standard indoor distance, and why the TEX  is so designated as such.
Far as the accuracy of the TEX goes, I have sucessfully shot targets at 20 yards with mine (using the  broad elevation limits of the sight), and have just settled on using mine for informal 10m shooting.
The pistols moderate velocity has both advantage and disadvantages. It's low muzzle report is a plus. Adequate paper punching velocity is there for even extended distance shooting. However, the low (approx 330-40fps) MV excludes the pistol from most pest or hunting uses.
Overall  the TEX is a good value, it's dependable as a claw hammer, accurate beyond most shooters abilitys, and with proper (simple) maintance, will last a lifetime!
As you can see, I am very pleased with mine and I would suggest it to anyone!
             HTH,
             ZVP

Howdy folks. I just bought a Tex 3 last week. I broke the gun down completely to get the cosmoline off of all the parts. There was quite a bit of filings left in the action, especially at the barrel hinge area. Noticed that the piston seal has been changed from a leather seal in the older wood gripped pistol to a molded nylon seal in the Tex-3. I am not sure on how to proceed with getting the cosmoline off the exterior of the nylon grips- any suggestions here more than welcome. The adjustable trigger, and the concealed screw driver are very nice touches. I bought some RWS Super Point pellets with the pistol, and they are shooting very high at 7 meters. They are 8.2 gr- maybe too light? Next purchase will be some match domed pellets. I was getting 1/2 inch groups at 7 meters from rest with these pellets. These pellets will penetrate through both sides of a beer can at 7 meters- that 90 MPS is nothing to sneeze at. The pistol maybe worthy of some very close range small game hunting. First impressions of the Tex-3 are favourable. Why doesn't the pistol show on any of the CZ web sites?

I got mine from last summer, it's a well built pistol and surprising accurate. I use the TEX3 mainly for indoor shooting at home at a distance of 6 meters. Due its low power very usefully for this kinda shooting, also very quiet comparing to my Tempest. Happy with the gun? Yes!

            Cheers, Harry

I recently got a Tex 3 too. It is a quality gun, I bougth it due to my apreciating of my 630 quality. I also had the problem of the pistol shooting very high with factory sights. Set at it's lower ajustment the rear sight is about ok for 20 yds shooting. I plan makin a higher front sight for it (for 10 yds indoor shooting).

One comment here: the more heavy pellet you use the higher they will shoot cause they take longer to travel down the barrel and by this time the recoil had more time to rise the muzzle.

Any one is aware of factory higher front sight for the Tex 3?

            Jocelyn.

You may be misunderstanding the reasons for the higher hits.
When you use a heavy pellet, the apex of it's trajectory is reached closer to the muzzle.
A sight setting ranged to say, 10m with a 7.9 gr pellet, will cause a pellet such as a 10.5 gr Crosman Premiere to strike maybe 10% higher on target than the 7,9 gr at the same sight setting.
The lag time a heavier pellet spends accellerating down a short pistol length bbl (only milliseconds) won't last long enough for recoil to interfere.
Besides, the recoil on a TEX tends to push the muzzle DOWN, caused by it's forward moving piston mass! A pistol such as the Webly Tempest or RWS Model-9 would cause the barrel to rise due to their rearward moving piston mass.
There are some fine visuals and tables to illiustrate this, available thru  doing a "serch" at The Fun Supply Main Airgun Forum for trajectorys.
Sometimes the heavier pellet even with it's lower velocity and higher trajectory apex will be more desireable. For instance for wind stabilty or brush busting (in rifles of course).

I completed my new front sight this morning, filing the flanges wich maintain
the sight in the rails, a little more filing for final shaping of the base, filing
the top of the sight adjusting point of aim at 10 meters with the rear
sight about 1/3 of its travel, then polish the whole thing a bit and blue.
It is now topping my handgun and look quite nice. But most important
I can now adjust the gun to shoot to point of aim even at short range
(not tested how close I can get in sight yet). I'm now a lot more pleased
            with my gun!

Why doesn't the pistol show on any of the CZ web sites?

Because they produce this gun no more...
