McMarri spring vs. Factory spring

Hi. I am new to this air gun fun and have purchased a 631 Slavia rifle and since I live in Canada, it is restricted to below 500 fps. I purchased a McCarri spring and it arrived with no literature whatsoever. I've read in other posts that you have to use a .850 spacer in front of the spring. I removed the factory spring without having to use a compressor, but after comparing the 2 springs, am wondering if I got the right one. The factory one is 8" long and the McCarri one is 10" long. Can anyone tell me if this is correct and do I still add the .850 spacer. It almost seems like the coils would compress too much at that added length, but maybe not. Thanks for any info I can get. P.S. I love this rifle. It is very accurate.

There will be more preload on the spring , as you are probably aware by now .I doubt that JM sent you the wrong one , the spacer goes into the piston in front of the spring , tar the spring and molly the guide and the spring ends the slot and the shoe , the trigger and mix 50 % oil /molly and use on the detente and the links ..and Voilla !! a tuned gun .

I'd try to contact Jim and ask him the exact question (with all your details) before attempting any thing.

If I recall well Jim's literature stated his springs were shorter than factory ones, raison for the spacer...

May be he deseign a new spring for the 631!

            Ask him directly!
