Docter sight
« on: January 05, 2003, 11:22:11 PM »
I am a fan of the Tasco Optima sight system..As all know the
Optima is no longer available, there is a similar sight the
J-point but I found that lacking..Well there is a better sight available but it is a bit more expensive..
Enter the Docter sight,,It is a bit bigger than the Optima and a little heavier..It is made of metal and glass where as the Optima was all plastic..The dot is brighter and doesn't fade out in dim light as the Optima does..
I have only about 200 rounds through the CZ75b with the sight on it and it is a joy to use..The adjustments were easy to do and then lock in place..There was no movement after sight in..Only time will tell how much better this system is over the Optima but I have had no problems with that system either..Everything points to the Docter to be more durable in the long run..IPSC shooters claim it is superior in all ways but I will withhold judgment till I have a 1000 rds through it..
In conclusion I can say I am well pleased with this sight and
will enjoy it immensely

Bompa,
Read this thread and see if you can post a pic.

If you want more help, or don't want to hassle with your own image hosting site, let us know... someone else (myself included) would be happy to post it for you.

I'm anxious to see the Docter sight too :D

P.S.  Not to hi-jack your thread, just a point of interest for some:

I went all out for a frame-mounted Holosight.

Thanks for the help with the picture.. As can be seen there are two different sights. They are similar but different..The Optima is all plastic and unfortunately is no longer available. The Docter sight is made of metal and glass and is much sturdier. The dot is much brighter also..It is claimed that the Docter sight holds up better also ..That is something that I will find out eventually..
I do like this type of sight as it is easy to mount with no holes to drill and tap.. Not as bulky either..
By the way the Optima is the same sight as the Firepoint that
was factory mounted on the 75b's..
