CZ 75B 300 Round Fit, Form and Function Test Report
« on: December 27, 2001, 09:22:17 PM »
Date: 12/27/2001
Location: Bullet Trap - Plano,TX
Temperature: Hot - Lane was right under overhead heat pipe!
Wind: None, indoor range
Ammo: 300 rounds Winchester 115 Grain Target ammo

Failures to feed: Zero

Mag Failures: One, follower on butchered MecGar 10 round was hung. Range Master repaired it and it performed without further bobbles.

Seven yard groupings were hard to determine as all shot strings with both the 15 round and 10 round mags were one big hole literally. Fifteen Yard groupings averaged 2" with some under 2". I am not a great shot but I had folks gathering around who were shooting Glocks, Berettas and HK's wanting to know what I was shooting to produce the tight groups. Accuracy-wise, the CZ just kicked the tail of the guy two bays over to my left shooting a full size HK USP 9 not to mention the fact his weapon was LOUD.

The instruction I received recently from a tactical instructor paid off but the real credit goes to the CZ75. I now feel like I did as a Sig owner except without the heavy recoil the top heavy sig classics render due to the light aluminum frame.

I saw absolutely no signs of the trigger pin working out nor any other signs of undue wear. I will further evaluate this after I do a thorough cleaning later this evening. The recoil was pleasant and the noise level was minimal. Muzzle flash was non-existent and I attribute this to the relatively longer barrel of the CZ------------4.7" to be exact. The DA was crisp and there was very little creep on the SA pull. After about 200 rounds, the pistol was quite warm but accuracy was not affected in any way.

I will admit that the polymer finnish will chip. Last night as I broke the weapon down for it's first lubrication, the slide was so dry, I had to really pull to get it off the frame and during the process, I dinged the rear of the slide against the front of the frame. I stopped further chipping by filling in the small void with a glob of matte black from my birchwood casey touch up pen--------------a must for every shooters cleaning kit. I'll concede it broke my heart when I saw that first chip but after tonight's trip, I don't even notice it. I applied RIG grease liberally to all mating surfaces in conjunction with Breakfree CLP and it paid off in a flawless showing. Nevertheless my new Czech friend was smokin' as that grease heated up.

I ended up the night by shooting up a head target of Osama Bin Laden that will be sent to my-father-in-law for the office decor of his company. As I walked out of the gun range and into the showroom floor, I walked past the gun cases. I could not help but thinking as I walked by: "I have in my case a $369.00 pistol. It is highly accurate. It will digest any 9mm ammo made by any factory at any power level with no problem or damage over the long haul. High Cap mags are still available and affordable. Why on earth would I pay $500-$700 for a prestigious name and get a less accurate weapon that cannot handle repeated use of higher powered ammo? Why?"

...and it just gets better!

Hello.  I'll bet that as the gun wears in that any malfunctions just go away.

You have one of the best pistols made in my opinion, especially for the price.

Best.

Will,

I shoot occasionally at Bullet Trap.  Definitely some "gun snobs" that go to that place, but some great people too.  Let me know if you ever want to go shoot.  I work in North Dallas.

Going to be making a trip to check out PT nightsight headquarters and thinking about having them added to my CZ if they look up to snuff.  They are in Bedford...not to far from my place in Irving.

Best Regards,

Kevin (D.O.)

You're on. I picked that CZ up at Bachman Pawn and Gun in Dallas. He has the CZ 83 for $250.00 and the CZ w/a15 rounder and 10 rounder for $369.00.

I just ignore the snobs. I having owned Sigs, Glocks and Berettas among others prefer the CZ's, Rugers and Makarovs due to their toughness and reliability. The Range workers can be jerks as well as you first check in but once you get settled and they see you exhibit good gun handling and comon courtesy, they become your best friend.

If I am not mistaken, a nut case killed himself there on the firing line around a year ago so I understand the protocol.

By the way, I had PT's on my Glock 23 and they are good. I just don't care for night sights as I get all confused in the dark as to which dot goes where. The guys at PT are SUPER nice and if I did prefer nights, I would go with them since they are nearby and all sights eventually fail. They were in Ft. Worth when I dealt with em'.

Will,

Yep - I either ignore the snobs, or I just try to outshoot them and then when they wonder what I have I'll show them that my CZ will do just as good as their "wunderHK".  I don't dislike H&K's, just don't think it's necessary to spend that much to get a great and accurate gun.

I've been meaning to check out Bachman.

Glad to hear that you liked the PT's.  I seem to deal well with the 3 dot nightsights.

You ever want to go shoot just email me - finelinekm@hotmail.com

Best Regards,

...and ignore the gun snobs.  As do many here, I own and shoot guns that cost more and less than the CZ75s I shoot, but the snobbery being showing by the guys you mention truly shows their lack of information.  For the money, the CZs are the best out there in my view.

Best.

PS:  Just blow the X out of the target several times.  That will say all that needs to be said.

I live north of Fort Worth.  Been to the BulletTrap once, wanted to test fire the HS2000.  Overall, wasn't impressed with it, decided to buy the CZ75 based almost entirely on what I had read here.

Anytime y'all want to get together for a run to the range, let me know.  mikek@exicoc.org

As soon as I'm back in good health (cold and such lately) - I'd be happy to go somewhere.  I should be 'recovered' and wanting to go shoot by this coming weekend.

I will be getting my CZ75 back on Thursday or Friday (though it is ready now) from IWI with new sights.  The guy that shot the gun at 25 yards to check the sights was VERY impressed with it.  With one hand on bench, but not on a rest he said he put 9 holes into a silver dollar size group with the new sights on.  Can't wait to get it and see the targets and have some fun myself!

Best Regards,

Kevin (D.O.)

I just purchased one of these fine handguns, they are great in my opinion, just like their rifles, shot it at 25yds in the cold and wind,2 inch groups with hydra-shoks,just slightly off point of aim,no FTF.
