Another CZ-75B SA Report
« on: April 18, 2002, 01:39:32 PM »
Hello everyone,

It's time for a report on the new 75B-SA in 9mm. As this is my first CZ I'm quite pleased with the fit and finish. That dull black polycoat looks very czexy ! I was surprised that I really took a liking to the stock grips.. the palm swell makes it seem like they were custom made for me. Sorry Hakan, but I'm going to be shooting it for a bit more before deciding if I want to go the custom route. Had a friend hold it for the first time and he made the comment that it was like wrapping your hand around a stick of warm butter, except, I hope, without the mess. All in all the pistol has the feel of a well designed firearm, a little more heavy in the muzzle than I am used to for a 9mm but that definitely helps with muzzle control. The only beef I have is the underside of the safety is pretty sharp on your thumb when engaging. An edge needs to be smoothed out.

Presently have shot about 600 rounds thru it, a reloaders mix of 115 gr RN, 115 gr HP, 124 gr HP and a few (uh!) 147 gr HP's. It ate all of them with the exception of (2) 115 gr RN that I had loaded for another pistol as "low power paper punchers". Those two failed to eject so I'm not blaming the gun there at all. It was obviously the round not having enough power to properly eject itself with the stock recoil spring. The only minus in terms of reliability are (2) slide locks that occurred while shooting. There were still bullets in the mag. I have read of some other people with this same experience and most wish to question the grip. I'm having a hard time accepting that in my case as I bring my weak hand thumb over my strong hand thumb to lock my grip. On the SA this puts ends of both of my thumbs very near the mag release. From there we've got about one inch to travel up to hit the slide lock. If my grip was shifting that much I'm pretty sure I would know about it.

So how does it shoot ?? The jury is still out as I become accustomed to it. According to the test target it shoots like you've got a bad flinch, low and left.(How are those made
anyway, Ransome ??) Out to about 15yds it seems to shoot about 1" high, windage seems dead on. At 10 yds precision is pretty good as I can keep a mag in a 4" circle. At 15 yds I can't. With my 1911 .45 I can keep everything pretty much in that 3" circle out to 15 yds. The last shooting session was at an outdoor range where I shot out to 75 yds. The CZ seemed to be dead on at that distance and remarkably precise. Obviously we need some sight adjustment since I don't want this pistol sighted in at 75 yds !!!!

One interesting note is the little difference in recoil from my "paper punchers" and something closer in warmth to a full factory load. Once again, muzzle weight no doubt helps out tremendously. I'm very interested in seeing what a +P round will feel like.

I must say I wasn't real excited about buying a pistol with a plastic trigger. It does have some "flex" in it if you cock and lock and then go to pull the trigger. Almost feels like if I pulled hard enough something would give. Let's hope not.

When the pistol was new the trigger had a little grit and a little creep. After 600 rounds fired and at least that amount of dry firing the grit has diminished drastically. I seem to notice the creep more now though. Oh well, it's off to Mike one of these days for his trigger job.

I will also probably end up replacing the sights with some Novak types since the stock ones seem a little small for my eyes.

Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase. I'm another happy CZ owner.. there seems to be a lot of us now.

SA, sounds like you're enjoying the new CZ.  I hope to enjoy my 75B-40 this weekend.  BTW, I wouldn't worry about the gun being dead on at 75 yds.  Most pistols shoot that way.  You're 40 yd stuff is probably a bit high.  All of my Glocks shoot POA at 100 yds.  Go figure... ;)

Good review. I am pretty sure my next pistol will be the 75SA.

Yes Gary it will be, It's "Safe and Sound" you could say:0

As for the Review. Very well done and i'm sure it will sway others towards what has to be the BEST CZ for
your money..The most accurate production model, too.

The SA in 9mm is a tad more accurate than the forty.
As for Hakans? There are only 3 or 4 SA grips made so far.

Spazz, myself... and a couple others have them.

The only prob i've heard of with the Polymer trigger is
when people take them out for some reason then try
to re-install them.

The Polymer feels slicker..but the Champion trigger is
all steel and is a good option when you have MIKE
tune your 75SA..as are all the Champion parts..like
VF had done.Trigger, Hammer and Sear..

P-T Nites  or MMC adjustables would help the sighting issue for your eyes..

For an accuarcy load: Do try the Silvertip 9mm , as that what HANDGUNS got best results with..a 0.5 inch 25
yard group!

Got a good holster, yet??  $20.00 to $120..00  the
CZ specific holsters are getting better each month!

ROCK ON!
