Well gentlemen, I how I dont ruffle too many feathers with this review but after my last dry fire section this evening I felt I had to write this
The fit and finish of both models are about equal in quality. The B model dose look a little better when it comes to the machining of some of the parts, buts thats evolution. Both pistols are VERY accurate and are on par with each other.
Now let1s look at the trigger mechanism, the most highly parsed part of the CZ75 and CZ85. The Single Action trigger pull on my PreB 85 CZ is very crisp. The Single Action trigger pull on my 75B is not as clean. This is because the B models have more travel and more components working aganced the user<the trigger block has a spring that puts tension on the trigger>. Over time these components smooth them selves out but the long pull will remain. However, you dont need to have that extra travel when you take up the slack on the trigger. As soon as you take up the slack on your trigger the gun is ready to fire firing block is now disengaged. Therefore you can now modify the sear to brake right after you take up the slack on your trigger. The champion sear should be able to replace your sear if you did not want to modify it your self. After you have smoothed out your trigger and modified your sear then you would have a gun that would fire like a preB CZ75. The Double Action of the PreB seams a little inconsistent. I could be that my preB is just not worn in enough yet, but it is not that far behind my CZ75B. While pulling the trigger in DA mode you hit where this one part of the pull where it requires about an additional 2~3lbs of force to get over. That point is right at where the SA pull starts. This could be thing that varies between unit to unit so I am not too sure right now. Ill post a fallow up in a few months and report if the trigger pull in DA mode has gotten better or stayed the same. Now, when it comes to DA pull on my CZ75B it is smooth. There is still that little hanging right at the SA mode area of the trigger pull, but I only need about 1/2lb of force or less to clear it. My friend has a Taurus M85 revolver, and my DA trigger pull on my CZ75B is better than the pull on his revolver.
I would have to say that the safeties on both the CZ75B and the PreB models are probably equal. The safety on any of the CZ75B models that have dual sided safeties are crisper than the single sided safety on the CZ75. The PreBs do have a spurred hammer, a plus but that combat hammer dose look and feel a little more useful.
So after some careful evaluation, I would say that the CZ75B is a better gun over CZ75. It would take a little work to get the CZ75B to have as good as a trigger pull as the CZ75 but the CZ75B has a safer trigger pull because it takes more energy to pull the trigger. The Bs do require more of a break-in but well worth the extra time. I am really happy with my CZ75B, so Ill have to post the break-in process as soon as I can remember what I did <well the gun is 4 months old, so it could not have been more than 2500 dry fires w/ snap caps and about 500 live rounds>
