This week I got a great deal on a new CZ83 in .380. $200, NIB, just couldn't pass it up.
First, fit and finish are very nice for a compact in this price range. The sides of the slide and front and rear of the grip area are nicely polished and blued. The rest of the frame does have some minor machine marks. The top of the slide is a nice matte blue. The 3 dot sites are excellent allowing fast pickup of the front sight.
The trigger has an 8th inch of creep but is VERY SMOOTH in SA. I love this trigger! There is no hint when the hammer is going to drop. DA is also smooth with a bit of camming of the hammer before release, also very nice!
The ergo's are very good, the grip is very comfortable for a double stack. The safety clicks with a nice positive detent and the slide and mag releases are very easy to reach.
I ran 50 rounds of Blaser 95g jacketed round nose through it today. I didn't have any targets handy so just tossed a few soup cans out about 25 yards and could make them dance consistently. They must have these sited in well from the factory. Functioning was perfect, the rounds went in and the brass came out. If anything the trigger improved with just 50 rounds through it.
All in all, I'd have to say this is the nicest shooting compact I own. The fun factor is extremly high! Actually I think I like the CZ83 better than my SIG 225, and I NEVER thought I'd find a more reliable fun compact to shoot. If your in the market for a compact, get one while you can, I think these may be the deal of the decade! A+++++++
