Man, am I happy to be finally showing off my own set
of Hakan's grips! It's just like everyone says, these babies are even more beautiful in person than they look in pictures. Despite that, here are a couple of my own feeble attempts:
Hakan was gracious enough to make these from a different wood - bocote - that I sent him. At this point I have to admit, the reason I now own these beautiful grips is because I originally thought I could do as well myself. Hey, I'm a fairly handy guy and I have access to a pretty thorough array of tools, how hard could it be?Well, after spending a LONG evening trying to make a set out of a lesser wood (didn't want to bung up the pretty stuff) I realized I was in way over my head. If you haven't done so, take a look at the back of your factory grips sometime and see what I'm talking about.
Anyway, I soon wised up and sent the wood off to Hakan. And in less time than I expected, these one of a kind grips now adorn my 75B.
My point here is simply that not only are the grips this guy creates beautiful, they're a bargain!
Add to this the fact that Mr. Pek is a genuine pleasure to do business with. Gee, does it sound like I'm a satisfied customer?
Anyway, sorry for the long post. It just isn't that often that I feel I got more than what I paid for.
