Missing safety detent spring?
« on: April 29, 2005, 09:20:01 AM »
Angus, I think my SP-01 is missing a spring. In the ambi safety, there are two tiny springs that hold the detents in place. The spring for the right side (weak side) wasn't there. It's there in my 85 Compact, and doesn't seem to affect anything except holding the right side safety lever in place when the ejector/sear assembly is removed from the frame. I called Mike E. at CZ and he professed ignorance since he hadn't had a SP-01 apart yet. Can anyone confirm if the SP-01 has TWO (2, dos, dual, more than 1, less than 3) safety detent springs, one to the left and one to the right of the ejector/sear assembly?

Also, where can I find those set screws for the SA trigger? I buggered one up in my 85 Compact and the local hardware stores don't stock anything that small.

The sp01 has a different set up for the ambi safety.
The weak side satys in place with a small metal clip type of deal.
Sounds liek when you ahd the gun appart you may have lost that clip.
This is a new type of ambi CZ just started using.
It is not the same as the tumblet style. It can use the same sear cage as normal guns.
If you ahve lost the clip then we may have to get spares from CZ UB becasue I am not sure mike E has the sapres for these.
But tell him it is the new style safety.

I got mine from Copper State. They are metric and I replace them with a hex head screw.
Send me an email and I will send you some.
Angus Duhhhh!

Nope, never was there. I disassemble the guns in a cardboard box just in case some small part wants to go wandering in the carpet.

Don't need the clip, it's still there. What's missing is the spring that puts pressure on that clip. Without that spring, shaking the gun causes the clip to fall out and then the safety lever falls out. This is with the sear cage removed. When the sear cage is installed, the safety lever clip can't fall out. Still, if there's supposed to be a spring there (like it is on the 85 Compact), I want it.

I'll find a place to order the set screws. I was just wondering if you knew the metric size.

Thanks Angus.

From what I remember there is no spring the sear cage holds the clip in pace it is all correct what you have. I will let you know the size I am pretty sure it is 3mm but I am away right now so can't check give Mike E A call.
