Grip modifications for the 52

Has anyone had success in customising the standard CZ52 grips? I just bought some Plasti-dip spray stuff and would like to hear some ideas. I'm thinking I'll spray it on in layers, with salt in between, to make a stipled texture on mine. Pics would be great.

Yeah,I Just did my stock grips with Fusion Spray paint (Krylon). I am very satisfied with the results. The finish is "grippy", and a nice color .I Chose to use a black color on mine and it matches the finish nicely., it is nearly Dark grey and has tiny little flecks of silver in it that you have to look closely to see.

Not a fan of glitter on my pistols but I'm glad you got a good surface. I'm experimenting with materials now, and
I'm still sticking with salt under plasti-dip.

There is not as much glitter as the pictures seems , I used a flash on my camera so it looks glittery, Here is a better shot.... http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc154/Davidcraftondvd/HPIM0874.jpg  The finish is "sandy" feeling, and has a semi-gloss finish.

I'm kind of surprised that the grooves are still so well defined. I'm gonna try to get rid of that on mine, see how it looks.. I have these coming, so I can mess with the stock ones as much as I like. Besides, I don't really think they will ever be "collectable" ( read: worth dog !*@!).

Where you getting your grips from? I'm looking for wood grips and an extended slide release for mine, And roger that on the stock grips!!

That's not my pistol, it's the guys' who I'm buying from, woadyurt. The chroming is done by Classic Arms; their chromed model is $200 if they still have it. The grips maker is Nick Ozanich out in Ohio, who I haven't seen advertised anywhere. They're gonna cost me $50.

Not going well at all. I'm gonna have to get my dad to sandblast them and see if it gets any better. Note: don't buy Plasti-coat. It peels like someones' skin after dipping into the Hudson. A couple racks of the slide, and the top bit already rubbed off.

That stuff works OK but only if you use pumas stone in it. I posted how to use the two on a thread somewhere on this forum. Use the spray for best results. If you really want a solid rubber grip that lasts forever, looks good and handles well, use "Flex Foam-It 25" by Smooth-On. I recently ordered some of that and it's incredibly solid. Flexible like a rubber band but textured allot like a pencil eraser. It's a foam rubber but the foam is so fine you can hardly tell. Just enough to give you a nice grit.

Update: Hi all, Went to the range Tue. and fired 72 rounds through my CZ. Wear on the Fusion paint mentioned above was ZERO. It felt a little better in my hand and the texture is plenty "grippy". I am thinking that i may buy another set of stock grips, use automotive body filler to fill the grooves on the grip, then sand smooth and try another Fusion paint color. I'll keep you posted.
