You did your homework.

A lot of the recent 40Ps seem to be suffering from a total lack of production attention to details with the rampant sights problems. This is compounded with CZ-USA's total lack of customer responsiveness where they will not answer emails and take their time in resolving issues, even when it is the second time around on the same purchase. When they did respond with real Tritium night sights (versus the toy "glow in the dark paint" factory junk), there was also a total lack of attention to details by their armor when installing the sights.

As for actual functionality, the 40P is a very well handling weapon. I have had the "luxury" (not by my choice) of going through two totally different 40Ps with the whole "sights adventure", both weapons function well. Both have cycled through a number of different brands and loads of JHP and FMJ rounds without any hiccups.

Ultimately, the decision is yours alone. If you have had good experiences with CZ-USA and do not mind waiting 4 to 6 weeks each time the sight(s) pop out, then it may be worth the adventure.

I personally find myself torn between the manufacturing oversights of CZ (which are minor) and the poor manner of conducting business by CZ-USA. My experiences with the actual weapon itself has been very positive. It's a solid weapon that is burdened by the combination of CZ and CZ-USA.

thx for the response zito, thats a good insight on the czp40, i was a little more concerned with the ftf's than the sight issues as i think i could resolve those easier, to hear that you had no ftf or malfuntions, gives me confidence that there is good functional ones out there....the sights ,ive had other pistols with those issues that i was able to fix....thx

No functionality issues here, but lots of issues around getting a honest product for my honest dollar... It wouldn't even be so bad, if their turn around time as not so drawn out. They took my money and held me hostage! They would not float me free financing, why should I be forced to for them?

That's the "rub", I'm not sure if I want to chance a "next time" with the same bunch of characters. I kept up the "faith" for them to correct the issues. At the end, they still took their sweet time at my expense and did a sloppy job in installing the replacement sights (not sure if it was out of spite on their part or just extreme indifference/incompetence - either way bad news considering we are dealing with a weapon here).

Hey Chi',
Got my 40p top end back last week..thursday or friday, I think. Yep they re-painted new sights..gee, impressive uh! The extra magazine they promised me for my troubles( I airshipped, next day..&24.95 on my nickel) was a no show!! I have not had a chance to fire the weapon yet, since I had some FTF'S with it, I'm curious and suspicious, to say the least, what did they really do..if anything, except a cheap paint job..could of done that myself. I'll let ya know.. What ammo are you using for your range sessions..I wanna compare. Thanks!!

Throughout my "ordeal", I got the feeling that CZ-USA didn't really care. I was lucky to have my local gun shop get involved both times.

Let's see... Between the two 40Ps, I've cycled through:

Federal Personal Defense 180 JHP
Remington UMC 180 JHP
Winchester White Box 165 FMJ
Winchester Ranger 155 JHP
