Prep for carry?
« on: October 02, 2008, 12:32:58 PM »
Have not posted in a while since I gave my last combat to my son, but now picked up a new nickel finish CZ 85 Combat that I plan to use as my primary carry weapon in a Kramer holster. I have put about 200 rounds through it so far with only 1 failure to feed.
I want a lighter, smoother trigger pull...may tackle that myself. are there reccommended recoil/mainspring/trigger return/ extractor / magazine springs weights, that would accomplish the trigger pull, reliability ehancements I'm looking for?

Is there still an aftermarket barrel manufacturer? This 85 is not quit as accurate as my older one.

Walt, still have my Sphinx!

I still have my OTHER Sphinx.  <grin>

But I've been going to school at night/on line for about 2 years, and haven't really done a lot of shooting (almost none) -- I just haven't had time.  I will be retiring in a month or so, and I hope to finish up my schooling in the spring (possibly, before that.) I may then have some time to shoot again.

(And by mid-year, next year, may be lokoing for a teaching job at on of the Junior colleges or community colleges in the area.)

The instructions on how to do a trigger job may be all you need, in the FAQ area.   That and a slightly lighter mainspring.

The most important thing you can do for carry is spend some money and get yourself a very comfortable, well-designed IWB holster.  Leather, if the climate in your area allows it -- they're just more comfortable (IWB).   You'll carry it a lot more than you'll shoot it.

Aready have a few Don Hume IWB's that I've used for a few years. They have held up well and are comfortable. The new holster is a Kramer horsehide IWB that is a thing of beauty...much sturdier, but it is going to take a good bit of wearing to break it in.
Congrats on almost being finished with schooling! Keeping the mind active is always a good thing.
Thanks for the reply.
