Double,
Yes, Im glad no one was hurt as well. Luckily I was outdoors, in the boon docks, and aiming at a stationary target on the groud.

It is weird because the pistol bench tests fine, shoots in SA fine, and only has problems in DA. I also dont know how much my shooting style and the short reset may have contributed. THere was one in the hole and four in the mag and after the incident it left the last round chambered. I wonder if my trigger finger began bouncing off the frame. I think that and the small sear/hammer engagement surface is what caused the problem. I already recut the sear to have a sharp positive angled edge. Im thinking of just replacing the sear anyway just to be safe.

Do you know where I can purchase a new sear?

Call CZ-USA:  800-955-4486 or try the CZ Custom Shop.  You're probably looking at $10 for a new sear.

Double,
THanks for the info. I ordered the sear this morning, it was 18 dollars.

I have learned a valuable lesson with this project. Bench testing is not range testing, for sure.

Thanks again,

Robert

$18 with shipping or plus shipping?  The last time I purchased a sear was probably more that a year ago, but I couold have sworn they were about $8 and change at the time.

Hey, at 18 bucks that is a bargain compared to the 75 you are going to spend if you need a new Sig sear for some reason.
FWIW, when I get the new sear and install it Im going to the range with live ammo and snap caps. I will load one live chambered and two snaps in the mag. I will try in both DA and SA just to make sure.

I will keep you all updated.
