SS Rod After a Period of Service.

Since CZ recommends not using them, why take the chance of potential damage.  In the end, there really is no advantage to having a SS rod anyway.

I have the DPM recoil system and my frame shows the beginnings of these marks, with about 1500 rounds through.  Does anyone know of any damage that has affected function?

I have a theory about those marks.  From where they are, I don't see how they can happen during firing.  I think they happen during assembly/disassembly.

I recently called CZ and was offered a SS guide rod for my P-01. I mentioned that I had heard there were concerns about using SS guide rods in alum framed pistols. The guy told me he wasn't aware of any problems and even used an SS in his on P-01, but did add that you need to use a round wire recoil spring not the flat recoil spring.

I am not sure about buying it if it's going to put extra wear on my pistol.   the recoil from 9mm is only worth the money, not any additional wear.

What, exactly, does the stainless guide rod do that the stock plastic one fails to do? I've read through the posts here regarding it and it seems like it is only a precautionary (or aesthetic) mod. Am I missing something?

The plastic guide rod must be ok. After all the P-01 passed NATO certification with it.

Is that P-01 one of the special run from Gander Mtn? I noticed the silver looking lower. Also, how many rounds did you put down the tube while you had the SSGR in?

Yes, it is GM special.  300 rounds S&B FMJ 124, 200 rounds by Angus after customizing and 1000 my light  reloads.  Angus replaced flat recoil spring and plastic rod with SS and 11Lb spring.  For 100 rounds  my wife tried  9Lb spring but she get several FTF than I changed it back to 11Lb.  It is possible that recoil with SS rod and the light spring put more pressure on the frame and push the little corners  back.  I emailed this pic to Rob at CZ-Custom and waiting for his reply.

I don't think it was the recoil spring. Mine had a factory spring in w/ the SSGR and did the same thing. I think what it comes down to is a harder metal pushing on a softer metal. I put the plastic GR back in both my P-01's and have not had any problems since. By the way I was hoping for a picture of the complete pistol.    I really want to add a GM special to my black and OD P-01's. I need some eye candy man!
