need General info on bta-90
« on: December 26, 2008, 05:29:18 AM »
I have an Excam /Tanfoglio all steel frame with slide mounted decocker. It appears as 99% new.It is a BTA-90 with 12 rd mag. Per Tanfoglio it was blt in jan 1988. Can anyone tell me exactly what I have? AS in. Is this a series 88 that i see referred to when discussing this gun? or is it a later model?? any and all info will be much appreciated. Also,I assume this is a small frame pistol? I based that assumption on the fact the b in bta stands for baby[per tanfoglio]. Thanks in advance for any inf on my pistol. I really like this gun and want to know all i can as it is a keeper.hdrider9

hdrider9 .........I will try to answer some of your questions about your Baby TA 90 that was imported through Excam from Tanfoglio as was the FIE of the same time frame.  As such your pistol is more closely related to the FIE Tanfoglio import.  When Excam and FIE lost there import rights this was the start of the EAA Witness line.  Your gun and the early Witness would be considered to be small frame guns as compared to today's Witness.   The early Witness and the Series 88 have the most in commend. With the 88 resting between the early FIE's and the Witness.     Hope this helps.   R S
