adjustable rear sights on RAMI
« on: January 06, 2009, 10:54:39 PM »
I notice that the CZ Online Store does not offer the adjustable rear sights found on the RAMI P.  Before I phone them to ask whether they sell same, I wanted to ask if any forum members know
(1) whether, if available, these can be fitted on an alloy RAMI by a gunsmith without too much trouble and labor expense?
(2) whether they are other alternatives?

Mine is not a P and it does have the adjustable rear sight. I wish they where night sights though.

Allow me, please, to rephrase the two questions that started this thread:

(1) Can the adjustable sights available on some RAMI Ps be fitted on an alloy RAMI by a gunsmith without too much trouble and labor expense?
(2) Are there other alternatives besides CZ for adjustable sights that can be fitted on an alloy RAMI by a gunsmith without too much trouble band labor expense?

As noted earlier mine is not a P model and has adjustable sights (So yes to #1),  From what I understand the slides are the same for all 9mm RAMI's the only difference is that some have a P , BD , or just RAMI the slides are the same.

#2 is yes, The link above shows different styles...

What is the process for removing the rear sight or is this something better left to a gunsmith. My new RAMI P is definitely off (consistently 5 inches left at 36 feet) and I am looking to replace the sights with either adjustable PSI rear sights or adjusting the factory sights.

HillCountryCZ,

Try adjusting your sight before replacing it.   Using a non-marring punch drift the rear sight in the direction you want your point of impact to move.   If it shoots to the left, move the rear sight to the right.

The weapon MUST be unloaded and well supported during this operation.  Somtimes the sights are a very tight fit in the dovetail and will need a surprising amount of force to move them.  I usually start with a 16 oz. hammer.

Some rear sights will have an Allen lock screw.  I don't think your RAMI does but if so, loosen it before moving the rear sight.

Removing the rear sight is just an "extended adjustment".    The sight is meant to come out the left side of the slide.   Some of us like to remove the slide from the weapon and secure in in a padded vise for this operation.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try that before considering a replacement rear sight. I hope it is tight, especially if there is no retaining pin or screw. I will look around for a non-marring punch and this might be an excuse to go ahead and get a vise (of course the fear there is getting too tight).
