Night Sights

If night sights remain in a box unexposed to light, do they wear out faster, slower, or the same as those exposed regularly to light?

Are refering to the glow in the dark sights that come on CZ's or regular Tritium night sights that Truglo and Trijicon make?

I wasn't aware there were differences.  I was primarily interested in the factory night sights on a Kahr.  I think they are Tritium but I'm not sure.

Tritium sights, like Trijicons, would be unaffected by exposure to light ... or the lack of exposure.

So how long do Tritium sights last?  What are the alternatives and how are they affected by lack of light?

According to the Trijicon websight, Trijicon night sights are guaranteed for up to 12 years.

The stock sights that "glow" on the CZs are nothing but florescent paint which need exposure to a light source in order to glow.  Keeping them in the dark will prevent them from glowing, much like many watch faces.
