« on: February 26, 2009, 10:02:06 PM »
I have a CZ SP01 and am thinking of getting a Glock 17 or 19 due to them having many accessorys(AR15 of the pistols).Anyway, anyone shot both the SP01 and a Glock? How do they compare in accuracy?I do OK with my SP01,but am afraid the Glock will be not be near as good.Any advice?

Just one goof's opinion mind you, but for the 'average' shooter I suspect that few of us would notice a huge difference in accuracy of handguns of similar barrel length and same caliber? I'm thinking that all the factory made handguns are more accurate than their owners. (average shooter owners that is)

If your rounds never stray into the 7 ring with a CZ, they probably won't with anything else either. I personally don't find the ergonomics of a Glock to fit my hand as well as an XD-M, so I might shoot a 'little' less accurately (or just as crappily-lol) with the Glock, but maybe not.

Agree with Randy.  For casual gun owners (not competition shooters) the accuracy of either of these guns shouldn't be an issue as much as other determining factors (ergonomics, reliability, durability, cost, aesthetics).

I suspect that these days most respectable gun shoppes would not even carry off-brand, marginal quality firearms just for the insurance liability issues (AKA Saturday Night Specials). I also believe that it's yer money, you get to decide what makes you happy. And there are plenty of sound choices within all budgets and needs.

I own both. The CZ is more accurate but the Glock is not to shabby after new sights. The factory sights suck ass, get some Warren / Hienie Sights installed.

nsl,

I used to own a G19, sold it, still have an old first generation G17 and several CZ's, including an SP-01.  I have shot the CZ along side the G17 several times.  The G17 is capable of excellent accuracy.  The difference is how easy or difficult it is to achieve said accuracy.  I have to work at it with the G17, whereas it seems easier with the CZ.  I'm not a fan of the Glock grip angle, but it's not a big issue for me; I am not fond of the stock Glock trigger and you will never get it in the same league as a good 1911 or competition hammer equipped CZ.

The Glock has snappier recoil but it's not offensive at all.  The sights are a personal thing, some like stock CZ and Glock sights, others don't.  The CZ is easier to customize, the Glock has much more aftermarket support, don't confuse the two.  I think variety is the spice of life, so if you can swing a G17, do it.  There is a reason Glocks have become a world famous in a very short time frame.

As an aside, I may shoot my G17 3-400 rounds a year; my CZ's combined are probably in the 11-13,000 rounds per year category.  I think this says a lot.

GLOCKs and their trigger take a lot to get use to. They are not smooth and crisp like your CZ. And like it has been stated they have a lot of muzzle flip compared to the CZ due to their light weight. If you can, shoot one first.

I went from a 1911 to a GLOCK 23 to a CZ-75 and the GLOCK by far was the hardest to shoot accurately. I eventually got there but it took a good amount of practice.

I will say my GLOCK 23 was the most reliable functioning firearm I have owned... til the frame cracked after 5000+ rounds. But I had GLOCK replace it. (There customer service is great by the way!)
