SP-01 Build....
« on: March 09, 2009, 10:56:16 AM »
Hi!,

Its been a while since I've been on this forum and its good to see some old names and a bunch of new ones!

I've been thinking of building my SP-01 into a target-type pistol...

I had a CZ-85 Combat that I had done a trigger job (including the competition hammer) on and converted to SAO and was really happy with the results... One hole groups all day long.... well, I ended up trading that pistol to a friend that had just gotten out of the hospital and was down in the dumps, but this CZ really cheered him up and when he asked to trade, I just couldn't resist...

After all, most of the fun was working on the pistol... (for me anyway)

Back to my topic... I have an SP-01 that I would like to do the same treatment to, but was concerned about an adjustable rear sight...

Has anyone done a grind job on the back of the slide to get the lower profile sights to fit?  Any other suggestions?

I an already planning to remove the FPS as the 85 Combat does not have one...  Add 85 Combat Sear, Competition hammer, lighter hammer springs...

Thanks

M.

My SP-01 Shadow is now at the gunsmith. It will be converted to SAO, gets a DMP Recoil-System, magwell, 15 lbs mainspring, competition hammer, thin aluminium agressive checkered grips (short), Meprolight frontsight and adjustable rearsight (LPA or BoMar). Hope it will be finished soon. My second Shadow is SA/DA, has a HiViz FO frontsight, fixed combat rearsight, thin aluminium agressive checkered grips (long, no magwell), competition hammer, 11 lbs recoil spring and 13 lbs mainspring. Will post some pics, when work on the gun is finished.

Best regards
Andreas

Can't wait to see pics of the first Shadow you described.  I am guessing you are going to shoot it in competition...which association/classification?  Your second Shadow sounds a lot like my set-up...very nice!

First one will be shot in IPSC standart, PP1, NPA. I also have a .22 conversion kit for it. Second one IPSC production.

That Bomar cut would be awesome if I could afford it...

What about bench grinding out the back of the slide and use the same LPA rear thats on the 85 Combat?  Recoat the slide with something from Brownells?
