Lot's o' Questions!

I want to know about various modifications that can be done for decockers (Phantom).  I'm new to the gun stuff and I'm still learning the jargon.  So have some questions that doing a search hasn't answered.

What are the pros/cons of a competition hammer? What's wrong with the stock hammer?

When CZCustom gets new magazines in stock I'll order various recoil springs (is that the right term?).  I have in the shopping car an 11#, 13#, 14#, and 15# springs.  I thought I would go try them all out at the range and see what works best.

I read somewhere on this site that the SP-01 barrel is optimized for 124 gr bullets.  I'm not interested in shooting NATO or +P or +P+ ammunition if that damages the gun.  So I'll probably use 124 gr exclusively.  I bought some reloads for practice.  What I would really like to have ammunition that isn't toxic to handle or shoot.  I haven't read about any that are really good.  The frangibles seem to clog up the barrels with nasty gunk.  And I haven't found out why the non-toxic rounds are for practice only.

What are the pros/cons of changing the various trigger springs so the trigger isn't so much work?

What sort of lubricant is used for these guns?  I'm tempted to use the Mobil1 Synthetic ball joint grease.  That stuff handles contaminants heat and impact very well.

Silencers are illegal in TX.  Otherwise I'd be interested. Holy crap guns are loud!

I've ported engine heads and combustion chambers and built custom motors.  I can be fearless about disassembling stuff.  But machines usually have some delicate parts where certain surfaces or assembly sequence is critical to the operation.  Knowing these things is what usually separates pro from amateur.  Is there a list of things to look out for in disassembly and reassembly?

Also, I can't figure out this backstrap thing for the Phantom.  Both of the backstraps in the kit look the same.  And there aren't any different ones available online.  Is this option for some highly customized hand crafted piece?  Or are there standardized different ones available?  I don't know that I need one.  I just want to know what's available.  I have smallish/medium hands.  I have no interest in widening the grip.  But it would be nice to reach the trigger a little easier.

Silencers are not illegal in Texas. Just fill out the proper Fed. paperwork and send in your $200 for the tax stamp.

Yep! Contact a local Class III dealer to assist you in filling it out and doing the transfer. It will take a few months for the process.

Great!  It's on my todo list!

Does anyone have any input on lubricants, green ammunition, the various types of springs, competition hammer, etc?
