Phantom slide on Shadow to make weight
« on: March 14, 2009, 02:03:40 PM »
I see that the Phantom has a slide that is cut out on the sides.  I assume this is to make it lighter.  Wouldn't it be really cool if CZ would take that slide and put it on the Shadow to make it a little lighter and then it might make weight for IDPA.

I guess nobody here shoots IDPA and would like to use a Shadow.

It would also be illegal - see the rules for SSP.  The Shadow can be made to make weight (39oz) without resorting to slide swapping.  I have posted on this forum how I made weight with the gun.

Bob,
You are right unless CZ made the gun that way.  I saw how you made the gun make weight.  I just think it would be easier if CZ would do it.  It would also allow for more grip options.

I played with a Phantom today as the local Gander Mountain had a couple in stock.  The "shaved" slide is appearance only.  The polymer frame is wider than the steel framed SP01s.  So what looks like the narrowed portion of the slide, is really the same width as a regular SP01 slide.

I've got a poly Rami here to use as a comparison and get a couple pics up in a bit to illustrate...

Photo isn't the greatest, but you should be able to see what I was talking about in the post above.
