Permit in pistol out
« on: March 14, 2009, 03:56:58 PM »
Well I got the call from my club SO this morning telling me my permit came in and would I like it mailed to me > I was at his house beofre he hung the phone up and at the club an hour later with my little girl (see Shadow)
200 rds later I'm here posting  ;D
What a smooth shooting pistol. At 25 yds I can keep all 10rds in the pie(25m match pistol targets)> they're not grouped all that good but it will come. There was no one around so I practised my manual decocks on each new clip and shot the first rd as a double action. that will take some work but in single action I'm pretty comfortable performing it(decock) and the Shadow fits me well in my grip. I'm a southpaw and I find I can lock the slide open with my mid knuckle on the trigger finger when its out of the trigger on  the rail.
A great choice in pistoli's - now the reloader, the holster, the......... :P

Congratulations.
With 200 rounds and no issues, you've got a winner.
Now you get to clean it and see how cleverly designed it is.

Tx guys ~ it's tough getting ammo here so I offered to take my wife shopping 3 hours south in her favourite town.....oh and the hunting shop was on the way home ;D  so I loaded up on some 147g WW Whitebox and some more 147g American Eagle. I'm saving all my brass in case I happen upon a reloading package deal  ;)
I looked for holsters today at the shop but not much of a selection for the SP01 and then add in it needs to be a southpaw :(  So I'll prolly go online for that. Did have a good deal on Uncle Mike duty belts (inner and outer) but without the holster I thought I'd wait. And the weathers supposed to be great here next few days so it'll be to the range I go

147gr Win white box is a great choice.

A friend and I put 400 147s through my Shadow at an IPSC match today. We (the friend, the Shadow, and I) had great fun and did well.

As of today, that's 1000 rounds through and not a hint of a problem. It was snowing and then raining all day, so I got to gaze into, dry and oil its oh-so-cleverly-designed innards again tonight. This thing cleans up real easy.

ResOps, get lotsa ammo or you'll be forever feeling like you've not got enough on hand.

Suggest, since you want to compete in IPSC, that you look at the CR Speed or Double Alpha line of double belts - both very stiff and made for competition. The Blade-Tech kydex holster molded for SP-01s is a very secure way to go, and the draw stroke is not impeded in any way.

Nice to get your reports. Oh, by the way, is your daughter's name Shadow, or am I confused. ;)

Here's what the manufacturer claims:

"147 CMJ Bullet,  excellent value for training substitute over Factory Ammo.  Very Clean (IPSC PF 137) standard primer, very reliable."

I have not chronoed them myself to confirm. I will chrono them in my gun once the snow is gone. They definitely are clean, smoke free, and do knock over calibrated poppers.

However, the very same round was supplied at last year's IPSC Canadian Nationals - the manufacturer was a major match sponsor.

I have a neighbour who is going to bring his chrony out next weekend(weather permitting - its still winter here ;)
MC I still had 'adequate inventory' at home when I suggested the shopping spree. I want to ensure I keep a good surplus due to the fact I have to travel so far to get it. better to be looking at it then for it :D
And I will probably go for the AA belt and my dealer has the Fobus for the Shadow. I'll look into the Kydex tonight..
