This nicely stocked rifle maybe is a full custom made one.
Notice different dates of proofing on barrel and receiver. I estimate: this rifle has been rebarreled.
Carvings appear to be European.

Beautiful rifle.  The factory did offer carved stocks of various designs but they are scarce.  I don't know if yours is factory or not but it appears to be period correct and very well could have come from the factory.

Update to above. I now know of a an 8x57 lightweight but have yet to view either rifle.
A good shot at close range beats a 'hit' at a longer range.
