SP-01 Magazine Options

One reason why I bought my SP-01 Phantom is that it accepts standard size CZ75 magazines, of which I have a decent supply. The Phantom comes with two extra-capacity 19rd magazines (sight hole says 18) which have tall polymer bases. The Phantom will also accept standard 16rd CZ75 magazines. I did some base plate swapping and found out a few things. The extra-capacity stock SP-01 mags are good for zombie attacks but make the butt of the pistol long. The SP-01 base plates work well on my P-01 compact 9mm as they convert standard 16rd mags to fit the compact pistol. The rubberized P-01 base plates look and feel fantastic on the bigger SP-01 Phantom (using standard size 16rd mags) as they have the best shape and rubber texture. Flat metal base plates prevent printing when carrying either pistol, but their sharp front edge can be felt by the support hand when shooting at the range.
Overall, I prefer the rubberized base plates on both the P-01 and the SP-01 Phantom, so I ordered some more from CZCustoms (Angus).
Stock SP-01 Phantom mag 19rd capacity with tall polymer base plate; standard CZ75 16rd mag with flat metal base plate; standard CZ75 16rd mag with rubberized P-01 base plate

I can't get 19 into my cz mags, but I can get 19 into my mecgar +2 mags, of which I have three. I'll be getting more, the Mecgars are $30, the cz mags are $45.
I do like the idea of P01 rubber plates on standard mags though, good call.

Good post. I was considering carrying the gun with 16 rd mags for less printing and didn't want to have the flat metal base because it would be more difficult to seat positively during malfunction drills. The rubber base-pad will be a great fix. Also I am wondering who has used the 25 round factory mags. Are they reliable?

drew5337,
I couldn't get 19 in the mag at first. After some break in and some oil in the mag, 19 goes in pretty easy by hand.
The 25 rd mag is in the mail. I'll post a pic of it on the Phantom when it comes in.
There's no reason not to carry with a 16 rd mag and carry an extra larger mag too.

Great tip WildRice. I'll have to try the rubberized P-01 base on the SP-01 using standard size 16rd mags. This give me another option to go with.
Thanks.

P-01 base plate options: flat metal on 14rd compact mag (plate from a Mec-Gar's mag), rubberized on 14rd compact mag (stock), SP-01 polymer on 16rd regular size mag
