Phantom Grip inserts ??
« on: May 01, 2009, 10:31:21 PM »
Hey Guys....
I've looked and looked...but for the life of me I can't find any
info. in the paperwork of HOW to change the insert grip that comes with
my new Phantom.
It looks like a simple push pin set up...but I can't get it to budge...
and I don't want to push too hard....

                   any info . appreciated......thanks

You can use small nail as a punch and hammer the thing out.  It'll come out a little bit, then press the lanyard loop against a table or floor and pull the rest of the pin out by hand.

Push it back in the way it came out.  By hand.  Just neutralize the opening by pressing the lanyard loop against a table or floor.

I haven't found an alternative backstrap for the Phantom yet.  Don't really need one I don't think.  I would recommend going through the trouble for a 15 lb hammer spring.

Hey Neon....I got 'er changed....wasn't much of a difference, but a little.

I just wanted to see what the other insert felt like.
I had the brass punch set to knock out the pin...and when I pulled the pin
the rest of the way out....the loop spring loaded part shot across the room...lol
The grip insert just pushes straight off and of course the other slides right on.
You do have to push the lanyard loop part in against the spring and it must be
lined up just right to get the pin back in.

Its like anything else....simple once you do it.....thanks

So it is a little different?  I'm going to have to measure both of them now.

get the 15 lb hammer spring.  It makes a noticiable difference in the trigger.

I measured the thickness of the two back straps with calipers.  One measured about 0.382" and the other measured about 0.390"  Both measurements included the bumps on the back.

Is it just me or are that difference utterly insignificant?
