Well, well, well...I just got back from the range, took a few of these Appleseed targets I got from The High Road dot Org, took them out to try with my trusty VZ-58. Now, I must confess, the prone shots were also fired kneeling - I forgot my carpet runner for that hot concrete - 100 degrees at 10AM, so they aren't QUITE right. Might have been a bit better that way, we'll try again some other time, when I can remember a good carpet runner.
Hmm...first up with some no name bronze colored steel case Berdan primed surplus junk I got from who knows where...and my new green CZ hat...

Ugh. Well, according to this, I can hit 'em within a normal combat range of 100 yards, and blind 'em with dirt spray beyond that...yeah right, keep thinking that.
So, dig in the range bag for some of my good reloads. I know I can do MUCH better with my good stuff, by gum, I'll show 'em all!
Ever hear of setting yourself up to fail?

Great groups, too low. Back to that whole 'blind 'em with dirt while a real marksman gets in there' theory. Either that, or my sights just don't work that well at 15 yards, when set for battlesight. But the embarrassing score is right there, and I don't change or hide my scores/groups here.
I did have one semi decent group of the day, a three round target, all shot double action from the half cock notch, two hand hold standing, 15 yards, just to practice. The two taped holes are a flyer and the end of a magazine, not part of the same group. That small group made me feel a bit better. Little off to the right, but I haven't been shooting NEAR as much as I was before, strange graveyard hours, and I need to do more back to basics practice.

One of the Appleseed organizers said that if I'd had my sights adjusted, would have been perfect, so i looked, yep, battlesight, 300 meters. Will have to try this again
