We won on the parks issue!
« on: May 20, 2009, 05:58:47 PM »
The carry in national parks and refuges amendment from Senator Coburn passed the Senate and the House by wide margins. The LIEberals are trying to downplay it, but the amendments were voted on seperately, and passed with large margins in both House and Senate. Obum said he will sign it before Memorial Day, and as I have been informed, may become law by Feb 2010. Off to the Grand Canyon armed! ;D 8)

Great news today.  Maybe we can get some traction with this victory on other 2nd Amendment issues as well.

And maybe, just maybe, a Democratic majority DOESN'T mean an anti Congress? the vote majorities were overwhelmingly in our favor, and they voted on the amendment seperately.

I think you are going to see an Obama backlash very soon from the Dems.

Too many individuals grow tired of all the rhetoric and talk and no action. He's a great public speaker, but he is hardly doing anything for the country. It's quite disgusting. He promised one thing and delivered another, which is what every politician does, but he so blatantly did it that it makes me want to puke.

Then again the republicans pretty much set themselves up to fail when they chose McCain and then he was forced into choosing Palin as his running mate.

I hope the GOP gets their act together and forms a new party. The new party should be for the middle class with programs for the middle class, pro-gun rights, and wage war on the white collar criminals that every government so far has let get away with theft on a grandiose scale. Hell only in our country could a white trash idiot rob a KFC for $5,000 dollars with a pistol and get life in prison while Bernie Madoff can steal billions and probably get a little slap on the wrist!

Who gives a crap if you are stealing using a fountain pen or a shotgun, in the end someone stealing millions and billions should get a much steeper penalty than someone stealing 5,000 dollars.

[expletive deleted] the man's been in office all of three months, at least give him time to do something before you slander him for doing nothing?

AND he just signed off on a bill supporting the second amendment, allow CCW carry in national parks, where do you get "backlash" out of this?

Obama's record on gun issues is dismal at best, from his times in differant offices. I think it would be very safe to say that if the parks bill was on it's own, he would have vetoed it. As it was attached to his credit card restructuring bill, he allowed it as lesser of two evils. If the line item veto had survived it's Constitutional test from the Clinton era, I give it about 90% chance the parks carry would have been strippedfrom the bill in Big O's office.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but with this you can carry inside national parks, but you can't carry into a building in a national park because it is considered a federal building.  That is just what I have been told.

Not sure if that's right, but if it is, I'm fine with it.

I'm not too worried about bad guys or bad critters in federal buildings, in national parks.

Now I've heard that we can NOT carry in National Forests.  They are seperate from this new legislation, and still treated as federal property in the brick and mortar sense?

About national forests, I found this on the Forest Service web site.

http://gis.fs.fed.us/r9/mnf/general_info/Laws_%20Regarding_%20Firearms_%20NF_Lands.pdf

So you can carry on National Forest lands as long as it is legal in that state, and I believe that it has been this way for quite some time.

im told that on pres. Bush's last day he signed a bill that did allow ccw permit holders to carry into parks, and on obamas 1st day, he veto'd that bill. thats a major reason hes looked at as against the 2nd ammendment, also given his history as a "gun grabber". Im also told he respects hunters rights, and only wants to take away "assault rifles", but his bill would make illegal any firearm that utilizes a removable magazine. Thats almost all of them!!!! even bolt action hunting rifles use magazines still! Anyway im almost positive my information here is correct, but feel free to let me know if im wrong.
