Noobie here

First Handgun for me ever... Got my SP-01 a few weeks ago but just made it to the range today (my first time ever to the range). I must say this gun ROCKS!!!! I ran a total of 250 flawless round through it today and it was perfect. I put a big old hole in the middle of the target.

I did have a few rounds eject and hit me in the chest and arm (about 5 rounds). I'm thinking this was my fault. I might have limp wrist it. I'm left handed and right eye dominant. Shooting cross body left hand in front of my right eye everything was fine. Its was only when I went right handed that I had brass land on my right arm and on my chest. Seeing that my right hand is weaker, I'll take the blame. I figure working on my right hand grip should fix this.

Anyhow.. New to the board, new to handgun's and new to CZ. I'm loving this gun. Headed back to the range tomorrow.

It is my understanding that erratic ejection angles are fairly common in the SP-01.  Mine certainly has similar issues and I have read others' claims of similar function.  There is a thread on break in issues with the SP-01 that may be worth looking at as one of the things mentioned is erratic brass ejection angles.

Good luck with the new purchase!

As the gun continues to get used, the angle on the ejector will get rubbed down a little flatter.  About a 1000 rounds into my Phantom it is becoming much less of a problem.  Every once in a while I'll get a shell perched on my right shoulder.  When it was new I would get a few on my forehead.

I'm a noobie myself, but slowly getting better.  One thing that I've learned over the last 3 months of ownership ( SP01, my first gun ), is that all of the problems I've experienced were not the gun's fault, it was mine!  Case in point:  I was getting hit in the forehead with spent rounds, so naturally I thought the gun was ejecting the shells straight back at me.  My buddy finally informed me that the spent cases were hitting the stall divider and ricocheting off of it and hitting me in the forehead!  Solution?  I now stand a little closer, or further away from the right side stall divider.

I'm not saying that is your problem, but it's an easy thing to try the next time you're at the range.

Good luck.

deprovider,

Best wishes with your new purchase. The SP-01 is a great pistol and loads of fun to shoot. Since you are still in the break-in period I would not be too concerned at this time. CZ's only improve with age. The more you shoot it the better it gets.
