Interesting article: pastor invites pistols to church
« on: June 05, 2009, 03:55:28 PM »
Found this on yahoo news, thought it was sort of interesting.

To me, the most interesting part is the Arkansas pastor who was shot twice, who opposes concealed carry in churches.  Does he think that keeping it illegal will stop the criminal who shot him?

Or is it out of respect for the Lord's house, and not a matter of safety and politics?

I believe it was a gun toting church member that stopped what could/would have a major massacre at a Colorado Springs church a couple of years ago.

Gun Free zones are NOT safe zones no matter how many anti gun zealots believe it.

I've got to hand it to the pastor for standing up for what is important to him; besides the Lord.
Like he said he wants to "celebrate the Fourth of July and the Second Amendment".

Some people will never "get it". You would think someone who has been a victim like the Pastor was would understand an individual's desire to be able to protect themselves. Sadly it appears it isn't so in his case. :(

I did, but the same is true for most firearms safety events and classes, even the ones hosted by gun stores and ranges, at least as far as I've seen.  I think it's part of their certification for the class that they sign something saying no loaded firearms.

At least that is what I was told from one instructor.

I am one of two CCW permit holders in our church.  When our pastor arrived a year ago, I informed him of my CCW permit and wanted his opinion of CCW in church.  He supported it and has informed our church board members of his decision.  He does not tell anyone who the CCW'ers are, just that they have passed all the required training and background checks.

In Missouri it is legal for CCW in church if pastor/board approves it.
