« on: June 16, 2009, 08:39:57 PM »
I picked up my new cz sp-01 last week. I had ordered cz sp-01 shadow and can you tell me if this is sp-01 or sp-01 shadow.

Ok thank you.  I wasn?t shure.  Most pictures I have seen have the shadow name on the pistol.

where are you located..looks like you have the 121mm barrel.
also adjustable sight were installed instead of the normal fixed sights.

one of the main difference is that you do not have the firing pin block..which all other models of the SP01 do have.

Sorry but that is the SP-01 not the Shadow.  The SP-01 Shadow has "Shadow" written on the left side of the slide as in "SP-01 Shadow".  I'll post a picture of my gun if you want.

Looks like a standard SP-01 with a longer barrel, over-sized safety, and 85 trigger job. Sites look to be comp sights, but not the Shadow sites?

The frame looks like a Shadow. The slide looks like an SP-01 slide fitted (no firing pin, roll pin & sight slot cut for the Shadow sight location) to the Shadow frame - or a Shadow slide mis-stamped. And some custom work added.

I think the lack of the firing pin block is key..only the 85 Combat, SP01 Shadow and the TS not have this.
the barrel looks like it one of the austrailian versions..not sure why the sights..but that isn't hard to change

Maybe torres can now tell us ..."the rest of the story". Like where did the gun come from and what modifications did he order.

The rest of the story,
It is not complicated.  I imported the pistol from another contry.  I ordered the shadow version and with the  comp sight  and when I received the pistol I did not see "Shadow" written on the left side.  I checked with the company I imported it from and was told it was the  shadow version.  This being me first pistol I was not shure  if was the shadow version and decided to ask all the professionals here for some help.

Thanks all for your help.

PS Still not shure though :)

All Shadows from CZ UB are so marked on the slide.  The bottom gun is my Shadow while the top gun is the regular SP-01.  IF you look closely you can see "Shadwo" on the slide.

Torres,

More than likely it's a Shadow. Just enjoy it and go with what the company that you imported it from told you.

The frame looks like a Shadow frame.  The slide doesn't have a roll pin which should mean no FPB like a Shadow slide(easy to check if you remove the slide and shoot a photo of the underside of the slide).  Shadows don't have a FPB while (most????) SP01's do.  Your slide is unusual because it is not marked "Shadow" and doesn't have a roll pin.

FWIW, when the USPSA Production rule discussions came up recently, I sort of remember someone saying there were regular SP01's out there without FPB.  Perhaps this slide supports that statement.

Do all of the serial numbers (frame, slide and barrel) match?  Also, could you shoot a photo of the underside of the slide and include the part that says SP01 in the photo?

From viewing several photos of the SP-01 & SP-01 Shadow, it looks like frames and slides have been interchanged/intermixed on a number of occasions. On some pictures of the SP-01, it looks like they have Shadow frames (with the regular SP-01 safety lever).
