CZ-SP01 Jam
« on: July 13, 2009, 02:43:15 AM »
Hi, I'm new to these forums and I just recently purchased a CZ-SP01.  Now, I put about 1000 rounds through it already, but towards the last 200, I've been experiencing several serious jams.  The gun would look perfectly normal, slide forward, hammer back, trigger ready, but when I try to pull the trigger, it's locked.  The slide is also locked (no the safety is not on), and it takes some finesse to eject the chambered round.  For ammo, I use Winchester and Blazer Brass.  I also properly clean and lube my gun.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Should I just send it in to be fixed or is there something else I can do?  Thanks!

EDIT:  I should note I have only field stripped the gun, I have never detailed stripped it.

Just an update:

I sent my gun back to CZ about a week ago, and once they figure out what is wrong I'll post it up here; just in case there is a remote chance that someone out there would have the same problem as me.

ive havent had any issues with my SP01s.  one i got NIB the other used.  dont know the history of the used one either, but so far so good.

it would be interesting to find out what was wrong.  i for one, would be interested to hear what was found.

btw, ive never had any of my autoloaders lock up like that. im thinking its something in the breach/barrel/frame but who knows.

Just received word from CZ that my gun has been fixed and is on its way back home.  Here is the update they gave me:

"Firing pin block lever was getting stuck in the up position causing the trigger and slide to lock.  Deburred F.P.B.L. and installed new F.P.B.L. spring.  Tested Function good."

Did you have to pay shipping to them?

No, they paid for shipping, which was 2-Day air with tracking.

Glad to hear you'll be getting her back soon. It's good to hear from someone like you that understands that sometimes issues can come up with even the best of guns. You didn't whine about it, you sent it off and now it's on it way home. Kudos to you and great to see what I already knew (even though I've never had a problem myself) CZ does right by their customers.
CZ 75 SP01 Shadow, strong enough for a man, but she likes it too!

CZ customer service has always been top notch from what I've read and my own experiences (although I have never had to send my firearms back). Good to hear the problem was resolved.

I had a similar problem on my 97B when I lost that really small fire pin block lever spring and fabricated one from a pen (read that trick here on the forum). It worked but wasn't strong enough and it jammed up my slide. New spring from CZ-USA - $2.00 and the elimination of any worries of it happening again :)

I actually got it back already and put about 150 rounds through; works perfectly fine for me!  I would have shot more, but I can't seem to get my hands on 9mm recently.  Going to an outdoor range to put another 100 through on Saturday; I predict no jams.

And I would like to say the return process was painless, but 3 weeks without it was painful, lol.  The CZ service, however, was impeccable.

Wow, you are getting yours back that quickly?  Unreal.  My SP-01 tactical has been sitting with CZ Warranty repair since May now and when I talked to them last week, they still hadn't even looked at it.  I had a thread going about it here LINK

Needless to say when I hear that your gun was worked on in a couple of days and mine has been sitting there for 2.5 months, I am not nearly as enamored with CZ's customer service as some others in this thread.  As long as it gets fixed and the other work is done properly I am not all that worried about the wait.  Or, at least I wasn't until I read this.  Now, I am getting a little frustrated...
