Gunsmith Cats and the CZ75 legend
« on: July 13, 2009, 03:33:14 AM »
I really owe this comic for getting me interested in the CZ75.  If it wasn't for Gunsmith Cats, I probably wouldn't have noticed the $500 first model CZ75 that mysteriously turned up in the gun shop one day.  I wonder how many other people got the CZ bug directly or indirectly from this series?

This is the famous page where Rally makes some big claims as to the superiority of the first model.  Maybe she's right http://www.czforumsite.info/index.php?topic=21656.0

I guess its obvious that I too am a GSC fan. One could also draw conclusions that this anime/manga is what started my interest in the original CZ-75 as well. There are a few threads that mention the tough metal legend. I recommend you read CM Rich's thread on the tough metal legend.

He is also a GSC fan. Unfortunately he hasn't been active here for a few months. Anyone know what happened to him? I loved his posts.  ???

So does anyone here have a picture of a short slide original 75? All the pre Bs I have seen have the normal long slide.

Thanks,

I did read it, I had a link in my original post  :D
It's what inspired me to search for and post that page from the comic.

Hi!

And yes, GSC directly influenced my gun lust, going back as far as 1996 or so when the anime was first released on VHS. Then I got into the manga, which was far more detailed in its gunapolloza. I instantly became fascinated with handguns, and  to no suprise, the first gun I bought was a brand new 75B, and soon thereafter, a vintage '78.

While I've expanded my range of gun lust (I'm now building a replica of Big Boss's custom M1911 from Snake Eater), the old CZ 75 and Gunsmith Cats will always carry alot of sentimental weight with me. Both are extremely well crafted works that compliment each other well.

Wow, and I thought I was the only one out there.  New to the group here, I'm still looking for a CZ75 Pre B.  Thanks for posting the comic.  I didn't know Rally Vincent carried the early short slide.  And here I was wondering if she had wood or plastic grips.

The Comics and Pre-B's are nice.  I had heard about some of the Spanish Metallurgy problem guns and some of the early Italian and Swiss CZ Clones had copied the CZ75 so well, they inherited some of those Metallurgy problems with too high a Nickel Content added into the mix.

Here's a few Gunsmith Cat Video's posted on Youtube:

When I turned 21, I went down to the local gun shop to check out the used handguns.  They had a Beretta 96, and a CZ 85 "A".  The CZ fit me better, and was cheaper, so that was that.
A month or so later I saw an episode of GSC on late-night tv, and was super-stoked to discover that my weird little pistol had some cool history and a dedicated following.
I've loved both of them ever since!

Don't forget Gunslinger girl, specifically the girl named Rico. She carries a Pre B.

I must admit, this series played a role in stoking the embers for my CZ interest. The enertainment industry certainly can influence the, "coolness factor," of certain firearms. Just my luck that the CZ75 is a lot more useful than some of my other Hollywood guns - I would never carry my Desert Eagle 50, .44 S&W 29-2! Do have an older 92F though thanks to any numerous 80's action flicks, but it's a bit too fat for my liking to carry. Also got a couple of SPAS12's; mean-looking shotguns, but too complicated and heavy.

I'd never heard of Gunsmith Cats or Rally Vincent before acquiring my first CZ pistol, nor do I care for comic books, graphic novels or whatever you choose to call them.  I have to say though, Gunsmith Cats rock.

Let's not forget the character of Barnette Orangello from the anim? series Vandread and her trusty pre-B CZ 75:

Now that's +P++++ ammo! Hope she's got a Wolff 22 lb. recoil spring and a recoil buffer in her 75.  ;D
