Question about full size frames
« on: July 26, 2009, 11:59:24 PM »
Picked up my CZ SP-01 this weekend. Looks great, was too busy to shoot it, bleep.
Anyway, after looking at the pistol and pictures from CZ's website, the gun appears to have a couple of the features found on the SP-01 Tactical. It has Tru Dot fixed sights and the accessory rail has 3 notches cast into it instead of 2 as pictured in their catalog.
Do you think the full sized steel frames can be made into several different configurations?
I wonder if you could turn a manual safety into an ambi de-cocker with a few component changes. Inquiry minds want to know. Thanks, R.

all the SP01s have been coming with the trudot night sights.
2005 was the last year they did two slots in the rail after that all SP01s have the three slot rail.

a manual safety model gun cannot be easily made into a decocker..there are differences in the frames between the two.

hope that helps answer your questions.

I went with the SP-01 Tactical because I wanted a steel pistol with an ambidextrous decocker. You made a good choice going with the SP-01. I was torn between the 2 models but the fact that the tactical was a decocker was the deciding factor.

Thank you gents.I appreciate a intelligent and well informed answer As a precision machinist for 35 yrs, I think the construction and materials used on the CZ are excellent!
I can hardly wait to tear it apart and "tweek" it. R.

Same with me, even though the tactical model was $50 more.  Whether you want a safety or decocker is entirely a personal preference.  For me, I like the unambiguity of knowing that if there is a round in the chamber, a trigger pull will always result in BANG, even if that first trigger pull is a bit of a drag.
