Proud new SP-01 owner... Questions
« on: August 06, 2009, 06:19:13 PM »
After the excruciating 10 day wait period (I live in California). I picked up my SP-01 (only CA legal model) on Monday and took it out to the range yesterday.

I put 50 rounds through it and didn't give me any problems out of the box. It was a beauty to shoot: I shot it better than my Glock 17 but not my Sig P226. I agree, as many of you have posted, the trigger can use a bit more improvement.

I'm planning on doing the following to help with the trigger. Is there anything else you recommend?
1. Installing a competition hammer
2. Switching hammer spring to 15#

I'm looking for posts where I can find detailed information on installing a competition hammer. I searched all morning and couldn't find one. Is it something that I can do fairly easily or do you recommend sending it in to CZcustoms or other gunsmiths.

Thanks,

V

Installing the comp hammer and 15# main spring will help with the DA pull, but the grittiness will remain until all the rough patches are worn down by either shooting a lot ... or by polishing up the contact areas in the trigger. Polishing this up on my SP01 made a huge difference in my DA pull, along with the comp hammer and lighter main spring. This upgrade made the SA very nice, but the polishing is what made my DA pull much smoother and easier to be consistent.

There are several really good photo tutorials on this site that I used for reference when I did mine, here's a link to one that is fairly detailed: http://www.czforumsite.info/index.php?topic=14690.0

Gotta love this forum for all the great info and people!

You can also remove the firing safety block and safety block lifter.  replace the safety block lifter with a spacer from czcustom.com

There's also a thread here on bending the trigger return spring to 90 degrees.

Thanks guys for the info. I was able to install the comp hammer after a little trial and error. I was finally able to get the hammer pins in after a couple hours of frustration. The gun is now a dream to shoot

CZs are way too addicting

Isn't it amazing how the comp hammer changes the pistol? :)
