What are you talking about????
« on: September 05, 2009, 12:54:56 AM »
OTD (out the door)......I see it everywhere.  I bought a gun for $459 out the door....$610 out the door....$500 OTD.

So......you're not buying the gun and then living in the store?  Someone isn't coming to your house 2 days after purchase and charging you another $79.  People......everyone knows tax is added to your purchase,...thats how it is with umm.......100% of all my other purchases too.  Why do people say...."out the door"???

Hey....I bought some groceries tonight, & I wanted everyone to know that it was $26.51 out the door.  Nobody ran after me out in the grocery store parking lot demanding more than what I paid.  Can you believe that?

Normally when I see or hear that, it's simply shorthand for what the final bill will be after taxes, shipping, fees etc. It's a way of speaking about what something is likely to cost if all you know up to that point is the sticker price. So I don't see how your example as to what happens after you pay and look at your receipt matters; it's for telling someone what it will cost when they haven't done the calculations or aren't aware of the extra charges or if you just want to skirt the issue and get to the bottom line.
