Any thoughts on the EAA/Tanfoglio Witness .45? Isn't that the same basic design?

Thanks for any info, I don't mean to hijack the thread, but it seems like a reasonable alternative.

I have the 9mm Baby Eagle.  I've got my local gun shop on the look out for more.  I would love to score a frame mounted safety in .45 ACP.  I'm hoping that now that Kahr has purchased DE, that they will be importing them again.  It would be even better if they listened to the customer requests and came back out with the frame mounted safety and with/without the rail.

I don't know if I prefer the Baby Eagle to my 75B, but I really enjoy my BE as a range pistol.  I got really lucky and picked it up for 349 and it had about 40 rounds through it.

Definately not worth their weight in gold.  Big monsters that aren't exactly carry friendly.  But they shoot just like you'd expect a CZ to shoot and everyone I've ever let shoot mine loved it from the start...still kicking myself for parting ways with mine.

However, if you don't have one and are interested in picking one up you had better do it right now.  Seriously, don't hesitate to pick one up since KBI has closed their doors and Magnum Research is no longer importing them.  Now you know why I wish I still had my BE2 in .45, one in 9mm, and one in .40 cal.  I do not suggest the polymer versions of the Baby Eagle or Jericho 941 though, the metal framed versions feel much better in the hand!

I must warn you that I'm not the only BE2 owner that had problems with the decocking mechanism having an out-of-spec pin in the slide (truly an el-cheapo pin that was replaced with a case hardened pin).  Hey, it can happen.

Just went and bought a midsize 45ACP from a local dealer (had my eyes on it for half a year now!!!)  What kind of out-of-spec pin you're talking about?  I'm very new in shooting sport, could you explain a bit more?  Where would I be able to get a reliable replacement?  Thanks.

Nope, not at all the same thing!

Firing Pins between the Decocking Baby Eagle/Jericho Pistols while similar are not exactly the same.  Frame Mounted Safetied versions MIGHT exchange.  Also, the Problem with the earlier Witness Firing Pins was not that of Metallurgy, but rather that it was possible to incorrectly install.

Just want to know who owns the Jericho 941 (Baby Desert Eagle) pistol?

They are worth their weight in gold, if there were any around to get.

Dan

I have one in 9mm. Great shooter.

Gee I guess I should have joined over here earlier.
I have a early baby eagle .45 with the slide mounted safety. I used to have a Beretta 92 so no big deal to me I actually like it.

It is my .45 of choice right now, just feels right. Now if I could get the trigger to be smoother I would be really happy, oh and while I am wishing how about cheap .45 ammo?   lol

I have an all-steel Baby Eagle in .45

It's for sale at my local range, I couldn't stand the slide mounted decocking lever. It's right where I want to grab the slide. Terrible design.

Also the rear sight doesn't fit well.

Not a bad shooter, but I got a real CZ97 instead.

I looked into the CZ97 and all I heard was complaints about the size of the gun. you have shot both are they similar in size?

If I could change things about my baby eagle they would be
1. better trigger, it is long and heavy and I would prefer it lighter like my CZ82
2. Better aftermarket, outside of importing parts from Israel there is not much playing around.
3. expensive to shoot. can we not get prices to be close to 9mm and .40?

Thats about it. dreaded decocker and all O0

I got a Star Megastar, double stack .45, for half the price.

 ;)

AH - I don't have huge hands, but the 97B fits me ok. It is noticeably bigger than the 75B, but it's not huge feeling, like say, a Glock 21 is to me.

BNP - That's a cool looking gun, I hadn't heard of those.

And you are unlikely to hear much about them in the Future also, as Star is unfortunately out of Business, along with Astra.  The Spanish Gunmaking Industry is but a shadow of what it once was.  Spanish Civilians, Police, and Military Forces, are now forced to look to Foreign manufacturers for their arms.  Moreso the latter two.

I almost bought a Megastar ten years ago.  They are big hunks of steel that come in both 45 and 10mm flavors.

The CZ-97 is noticeably bigger than the Tanfoglio-based 45's.  I bought one from a board member here and discovered to my dismay that it was just too big.  I hated that, but it just did not fit as well as my Witness so away it went.  I replaced it with a P9 in 45acp.
