I took my new Czechmate to the range for the first time yesterday with some cheap ammo, Remington UMC and Winchester White Box.

Not a single round of the UMC ejected.
The WWB shot quite reliably except for perhaps 3 rds out of 200.

My assumption is that these guns are tested and calibrated with S&B 115gr. ammunition, which has an MV of 1280FPS - 147PF.  UMC has an MV of 1100 - 126.5PF and WWB has an MV of 1150 - 132PF.

I'd like to hear other people's experiences with production ammo. I am considering playing around with different recoil springs.

* EDIT -

Outdoors on a cold day, WWB and Federal also all FTE 100%. Sending back to CZ-USA for examination / repair.

MGillette,

Do you reload, by chance?  I am assuming this gun was designed to run with Major PF ammo in order to make the comp work.  You may need to step the load up.  If you don't reload, see if you can find some 9mm +P and see if it will run.  Light bullet (115 grain) at high velocity (1450 fps) is what you are looking for.

I've read of others in two countries that said they fire the CZechmate as a steel gun with minor loads.  "They claimed" it ran fine with low velocity --130pf and less-.
Several have tried to find the spring weight for it, but 'no joy' yet.  At CZUSA I couldn't find the recoil spring  for the Tac Sport either.  Gunspring.com just lists "full size CZs" which infers 4.72: bbl.

Anyone know what the 9mm Tac Sport uses???
EdIt To ADD:  Just found this: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=138057
Seems (maybe) the 14# recoil spring is stock like Wolff infers.   If the Tac Sport runs minor with 14# the CZechmate should too unless the comp weight changes things.

I hope you post what you find out.  If you call the Custom shop "as an owner" of the $3K CZechmate, someone should be able to help/give info and suggestions.

I actually gave the recoil spring from my standard 9mm TS a try - no luck with that either (it actually got worse). CZ-USA e-mailed me a Fed-Ex Overnight slip so they could examine and repair the gun free of charge, I'm happy with that. I will surely post the resolution to this issue.

CZechmate UPDATE
« Reply #19 on: December 18, 2011, 08:17:57 PM »
I just got this email from Rob at the CZ Custom Shop.

We believe the pistol includes a 14lb recoil spring. I compete with it
shooting major loads 168.9 PF. I've also shot Fiocchi 124gr FMJ factory ammo
which is probably not even making minor out of that pistol.

I hope it is extractor spring at most, even if anything, Czechmate is a beautiful weapon.

Well I got back and picked my new Czeckmate up up.  It feels great and shoots great.....It started out having problems loading shells.  I shot 3 mags and it jammed about every 10th one.  I will have to dial it in so it will not do that any more.  May shoot it some more today.

I also got in my new CTS from CZCustom.....Wow nice pistol!  I will getting my belt put together last night and found out real quick like that the CTS is much bigger than shadow and it will not fit into holster.  Opps....I have competition on Thursday and didn't have a holster.....so CZCuston to the rescue....One phone call and I got an email with the tracking number.....

Well, I just got my Czechmate back last night... well, at least A Czechmate. They couldn't fix it so they completely replaced it with a brand new gun (and matching extra barrel)! I couldn't be happier, I ran through 250 rounds including WWB, UMC, and Federal 115gr - not a single Jam, FTF or FTE. The recoil is incredibly light - the red-dot never left my sight. I'm psyched to take this to my next USPSA match. CZ's service was amazing and I couldn't be happier with the choice to buy the Czechmate.

Glad your "new" pistol works as advertised.
Please keep us updated on your loads and experiences with that gorgeous pistol.

MG,  I hope i didn't get one of the ones that were a bad run.  If so I will have to do the same thing.  I am out on the other side of the state doing some matches so when I get back Monday I will put 100 rounds through and see how it does.

Looks good in the video.

I shot a couple hundred rounds out of mine yesterday and no jams.  I think mine was just new and needed some use to get it going.....lol
