New 82 owner

Just picked one up from AIM Surplus, paid the extra $10 for hand selected so the total was $244 with Ohio tax. What a great pistol and its in great condition. Came with 2 mags and a military style holster, which wouldn't be bad for OWB carry.

Took it to my club yesterday to run a box of Silver Bear ammo through it and was pleasantly surprised. By the 3rd mag i was hitting all 12 rounds into the 3" target at 7yds. not bad for me! I had to adjust my sight picture somewhat as it shot low if I held the sights at 6 o'clock, I had to hold over the middle of the target spot but that was OK.  It reminds me of the sight picture on my P38 in that respect.

I am going to like this gun even more as I get more range time with it. It will become my new carry weapon I think.

I got mine from AIM and paid the extra $10 also.  I was told that they had a special batch in really good condition that they used to fill the upgrade requests.  Mine appeared to be almost new, certainly not fired much at all.  I have been responsible for most of the wear since putting a 100 rounds through it. The metal on the frame was softer than I expected, but it is still a very well made little gun. It is a great little shooter and should last indefinitely since I will be careful not to abuse it..

I got mine at a gun show. the finish was beat up very bad. After looking around on here I got the moxie to strip the finish and cold blue it. Added a pair of wooden grips and it looks like a brand new pistol now. And just to reiterate, that trigger is sweet! Enjoy you new '82.

How does Ohio get tax on an Internet sale?

Or did you have to go through an FFL dealer?

If so, then getting a C&R should be a better choice.

Some FFL Dealers who will do the transfer actually charge tax on the price of the gun. This is highly suspect since the purchase of the gun is between the individual and AIM Surplus. The dealer is entitled to charge a fee for the transfer and any state background records fee but not a tax on the cost of the gun. Such a tax on the cost of the gun  is just extra money the dealer collects to increase their personal income.  I would suggest that a potential purchaser look for another FFL holder who does not pull this little trick.

I misspoke: there was no tax on that gun.  The FFL is a fellow club member who did not charge me his standard $25 fee either. I paid AIM directly using my credit card, total was $244 and the FFL holder received the gun which I picked up from his shop. IIRC the internet site showed sale price of the gun as $219 plus $10 for their pick of the best, but they charged me $244 so the difference of $25 must have been shipping.

Tell me something about that holster; it looks interesting. I've never seen one like it. Is that the belt loop on the left?

I got one from aim also and I am very happy with it as well. I did get a crappy holster but oh well.
I ordered a parkerized one from Classic arms and I am returning it. The trigger feels like it has rocks in it.
I read that Century has a deal going on now so I ordered 2 of them. I will give a quality report when they come in.

The 82 is my new favorite.

Yes, there is something really cool about these little jewels. I think it is the ergonomics and shoot-ability of the pistol. It is compact and feels really good in your hand.  The 9 x 18 Mak is also not a bad cartridge choice since it is not as hard to find as .380 ammo. Defense loads are limited, but Corbon makes a "Powerball" load for this cartridge.

This is an excellent choice for someone who wants to have a house gun that is safe to handle as a very reasonable price.

I had no idea Corbon made loads for these. The only HP's I've heard of are Hornady and Silver Bear and I can only find the latter. Any suggestions where I'd have the best luck finding them?

My first CZ was a C&R, CZ 82. Great little gun. You gotta love a gun designed to shoot cheap ammo.
